Some whining again

I had my TC replaced by mitsubishi and after 200-300 miles its starting to whine again but very very quietly and u can hear it around 70-80mph with slight heavy throttle...NO its not the turbo... i thought it was nothing then i did a quick 4th gear pull on the highway and during that gear pull it whined sooo bad... im actually thinking its my rear diff thats ****ed up now... What type of fluid does it take.. i used pennzoil 80w-90 w/ limited slip additives in it...is that fluid ok? im just scared because mitsubishi just fixed it a weak ago and now its making noises again. im bringing it in on wednesday to get an exhaust leak fixed and im scared if i tell them its whining again theyre gonna be RACER...but i dont i just drive spiritedly

can anyone verify if Pennzoil 80w-90 w/limited slip additives is good enough for the rear differential? either my TC is going out or my rear diff is...

havent personally tried the pennzoil but in all of my dsm's i use valvoline 80/85 90 and have had no problems. so my answer would be yes but alot of people say the evo's t-case and rear diff are pretty picky about what is used so hence the reason i used diaqueen. try switching and see if there is a improvement or not. good luck.

well mitsubishi fixed my TC so they should have put the right fluid... but for the rear diff i used 80w-90 w/ limited slip...and now its making noises

as far as i know it should be fine with the fluids you used as long as it met the OEM requirements for type of fluid. personally what i would do though is buy some diaqueen lsd oil and see if it changes anything. if not leave the diaqueen in it and take it back to the dealer. are you sure it is coming from the rear? good luck.

well il deffenitly let the dealer know when i go in on wednesday to fix my exhaust leak... i saw the list of approved oil types and it said 80w-90 was fine...so i thats what i used... my TC was burnt up because i put the fluid in it too because iv heard of people using 75w-90 on the TC...i assumed that 80w-90 would be thicker and better...im just tired of all this whining! i wanna drive my car like its meant to be...

yeah i hear where you are coming from. sucks to have a car that is always in the shop being worked on or what not. but i am sure it will get worked out since they replaced your tc already for it whining so it seems they are not total asses about it. your fluid is thicker than specified but i see no reason why it would fail on any part of your own for using that type of fluid. good luck man. let us know how things go when you take it back in.

also on a side note, from now on try using the diaqueen lsd oil so you know it isnt at fault of the fluids you used.

well i see no reason why they can blame you then if the factory fluids are not available. if they use the valvoline too like i have used then there shouldnt be an issue either. i get all my fluids from either mile high mitsu or phil long mitsu and they always have stocked the lsd oil and tranny fluids. you can probably order it or have mitsu here send it there. number is 719-575-7740. only thing about the tranny fluids is that they can only sell it in a 55gal drum and there is no way i would buy that much of the stuff, let alone trying to store it somewhere. if you want to order it talk to rick in the parts dept. and tell him to give you the dsm discount, it is fairly cheap and has enough to do 2 changes on the t-case and rear diff.
