. grrr88, now we got trolls on the board. hey buddy, check out my sig. those parts i have for it will be more than enough to smoke you. but i doubt id even need any of them. p.s. i dunno if you know this, but, you are driving a NEON! heh
the srt-4 looks cool on the road. I've driven one. It's nice on the inside too. I've never been in a neon so i had nothing to compare it with. It seemed very nice to me. The black is my fac color because it looks sweet and you can see the FMIC from far away. The back end was too high for me though.

p.s. i dunno if you know this, but, you are 3 car lengths behind me.... how's the mufflerless exhaust taste
I had some idiot lurch on me in an SRT-4 the other day. I was in my Jetta
My guess is it was some salesman trying to promote the thing. I almost died laughing. Not only is the thing retarded looking IMO it really didn't seem all that fast. Of course I'm used to over 400rwhp so that may be why
Dabgumbit when the hell is Ralliart comin to town?

p.s. not trying to be the dick. actually the srt-4 impresses me with the power its putting down, even if you dyno you used is inaccurate. but i still dont like the fact its a neon.

but good bang for the buck. Just like a taco still feels the same in the inside, no matter how ugly she is on the outside. (okay that wasnt called for)

Sure we CAN!!
Lesson 1-
WRX = 160 to the wheels
Evo 8 = 180 to the wheels
Srt-4 = 220 to the wheels
Lesson 2-
wrx = $23000
Srt-4 = $19,995
EVo = $32,000
Moral of the story kid5 ..... Evo 8 === ghey

Actually, Shiv's results are spot on, as far as I can see.
Let me explain before people go up in flames. MMC quoted 271hp for the Evo, vs. the 276hp for the JDM Evo. Yet we all know it's not 276hp, it's in the 300's. About 310hp, according to some recent dyno's I've seen. So MMC is claiming that the USDM Evo 8 has about 39hp less hp than the JDM Evo. And coincedently, the Evo 7 that Shiv dyno'd has (drum roll) about 32-40 more awhp than the USDM Evo 8.
So what gives? Well, namely poor gas - California's gas is going to make any car read lower than nearly anywhere else in the States. And MMC didn't say what state's gas they used to test the car, did they?
The thing is, that doesn't really change things that much - other cars have to run on that gas also. So while the numbers may not be too high, the playground is still level.
Cheers,
Paul Hansen

Paul,
I don't understand you point. Shiv stated he did a little race day chemistry and brewed up an estimated 94OCT equivalent. The results added an additional 10 hp but still leaves 20hp missing. What I am missing?

I'm involved with the guts of manufacturers figures, catalogs and other data. I don't think MMC lied actually, I think the simply took the best figures from a well-worn in engine that they had made sure was in top tune, ran it on the best gas available in the States, and went with those numbers.
Or, to put it another way - I have a feeling that if you ran an Evo 8 JDM and an Evo 8 USDM next to each other on the same gas (that has been used long enough for the ECU to adjust to it), they would always report about a 30-40awhp difference. Shiv's dyno read 212-230awhp for the Evo VII, which is about 305-310hp on proper AWD dyno's in Japan. So if the USDM Evo 8 is 271hp via MMC's claims, that's 36-39hp less than the JDM Evo VII - about the difference between the two cars on Shiv's dyno.
Cheers,
Paul Hansen
