Well... we dyno'd it :)
Anyone notices Mitsubishi loaded the evo with mobile 1???
Won't this cause the breaking to last ALOT longer then running a blend for the breakin?
Or is that the old mindset???

The USDM EVO is weak. Lets just admit it. It has 20more WHP than a WRX. After seeing this, I plan to keep my WRX and give Mitsu a big thumb in the butt.
I don't think theyll ever get my money.
My stage II WRX can smoke a stock EVO the way it sits right now. That doesn't say much for the EVO Supercar we were supposed to get. I can't wait to go spend my money on a nice new 300/300 6-speed with ACD Subaru STi! =)
Subaru, would you like my $35 grand??

My point is not to trash one dyno vs. the other - - but simply to recognize that most people doing dyno work in the US use the dyno jet - so Shiv's dyno - although very nice I am sure - reads a bit differently than what we are used to seeing in all the magazines and web forums
Therefore - it would be very helpful to see some dyno jet numbers before we draw any conclusions about the Evo VIII
(Just my own 2 cents - I dont care if it only has 150 wheel HP - my Evo will be making major power within one week of its arival)

Alfriedesq's reputation follows him. He in infamous on the Subaru boards for being a big mouth.
I have the option of using a Dynojet (3 miles from my house), or a Dyno Dynamics dyno (Shiv's, 17 miles from my house).
I would choose the DD dyno any day of the week. Dynojets read high, and as Shiv said, they are VERY HARD on the center differential. I would like to see the dyno pulls redone at 10,000 miles. Cars to inevitably gain more HP after they brake in. Usually after 10,000 they are at their peak.
Tuners are there to take you money though, so be careful. Shiv has a pretty good reputation, but I also know of negative feedback on him too though. He has a cult following. There are those that love him, and those that hate him. Just to put things into perspective. He is a keen businessman...and I will leave it at that.
Vishnu's strongpoint, from what I have read, and derived from research, is not the power that they make (Turbo XS is the WRX Power Pimps), but rather the safety margin that he tunes into the vehicles that he tweaks. I think that he is the safest tuner out there, and for a daily driver, that is VERY IMPORTANT.

If these two were side by side.... hummm $10,000+ difference might make it a hard choice.....considering performance, not apperence.. (for damn sakes its a friggin Peon!!!!!!)
All in all Im totally happy with the way my evo8 is now.
I love this car, best thing I have ever bought.
Oh, and i am skeptical of the power figures. My WRX with a catless 3" exhaust and an MBC set at 1 bar was about on par with how the evo feels.. And the evo weighs ~200lbs more then my WRX did..
That said.. i am 100% happy with my purchase.. It is an outstanding car. and the brakeing and handeling are awsome!

Good point
On a dynojet, the EVO showed 258 fwhp.
So the neon would be hard pressed to beat the EVO.
With the approx. track times, the EVO is faster by atleast a .5 sec.
Either way it doesn't matter...EVO was designed to go fast on the track, more specifically on the rally course. The neon would be hard pressed to keep up, with similar driver skills of course.

on shiv's DD we see that the Evo puts down only 20 more HP to the wheels than a WRX
we also find that the JDM Evo VII puts down significantly more power (40awhp) than the USDM Evo
we can definitely conclude that
No regrets here. This car kicks ***. I am at at 550 miles now. Pretty much almost at the
recommended break in. And besides, we all know what the potential of the beast is. To say you wont mod it would be almost a lie. We all should naturally expect this to not be the standard evo we are used to. But it shouldnt take a lot to get it there!

This car better do 60 in less than 5 seconds.
The web site still claims it will.
Maybe with a 100 pound japanese guy driving at sea level with 104 octane fuel on a 30 dergree day.
If they make the claim on a US web site it better do it here!
We should not have to pay more to accomplish it.
I don't know who this Shiv guy is but he sure has stirred the ****.
We are paying high insurance based on Mitsubishi claims.
I know the car has other tremendous features but if they claim it, it better do it.

How about we get some real freakin times like 0-60 and the 1/4...if 0-60 is, like Mitsu states "under 5secs" and the 1/4 is around 13.4-13.5, I don't think a lot will be *****ing about dynos

AMEN!!!!!!!!
I don't care what the dyno says until I see some 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.
Why don't we have any times yet?
Shiv can dyno race all he wants.
What is the point without real life results?
Why would you dyno a car without knowing how fast it is?
