Looking to get around 50 crank hp...

I just recently purchased an 05 evo. Im looking to get around 50 crank hp IN THE SAFEST WAY possible. What would you guys suggest? Also what would give better results between changing the downpipe and removing the cat or just changing the catback? When you change the downpipe does it remove the cat also or would you have to get additional piping as a cat delete?

Change the cat-back first if ur going to do exaust. But for 50 hp, do full turbo-back exhaust and a reflash.

If you can get a good custom dyno tune locally... I'd say get a mbc.. maybe a drop in filter. Exhaust would be great but you could gain 10-20whp just with a tune.

Well i know with the mbc boosts holds much better and the turbo spools faster but is it safe for the boost to hold all the way to redline without tuning for it. Also is an mbc consisten without spiking or creeping?

Cool

3" down pipe, 3" exhaust cat back, and a mbc set at 20psi will get you there. it is safe even without a tune. once you tune, you will notice a smoother power band.

I wouldn't recommend MBCs...more boost = more strain on the engine/turbo = shorter lifespan

Rule of thumb: more power = shorter lifespan

On my 03....I picked up 57WHP with 3" CATLESS turbo back exhaust, JDM BOV, and an XEDE piggyback tune with boost at 22PSI via XEDE.

But my car was SUPER rich with just the factory ECU.

why would you care about crank anyhow?

wheel horse power is the only number that maters.

who cares how much horsepower you have that you can't effectively use?

lol

Hey, if you're in NOVA, you should be on our local club asking this. We'll hook you up with some good info and point you to our vendor sponsors for great deals on parts and/or installation.

The suggestions in here are good, but you need to not worry about crank hp, since no one can measure that.
