Question Cruise

Has anyone checked into the possibility of adding cruise control. Any info would be helpful.

I would like to know this too, seems silly that the only reason they don't have cruise is because of the steering wheel...I'd rather have the Lancer wheel and cruise...

I agree, cruise would be nice. We're not talking all out luxury here, doesn't even need to be on the steering wheel, but for those of us that live in the middle of no where and drive at least 45 min of interstate to a town... cruise would be much appreciated.

Any aftermarket ideas?

My dealer said that they can install an aftermarket cruise for under $200 relatively easily. Ask you're dealer if they can do it!

Can someone who has taken delivery of their Evolution (lucky SOBs!) please confirm whether or not it has cruise control? Not a dealbreaker but I'd sure like to know.

Funny thing is, there are Evo auctions on Ebay and they do list CC as a feature. Trying to get $5100 for *just their spot on the waitlist* and they fudge the features to boot. Caveat emptor (sp?).

That's weird. I drive an hour to and from work every day in a car with cruise control and I haven't used it once for that. The only time I ever use cruise control is to keep myself from doing 100 the whole time in 6-8 hour drives. It usually has nothing to do with saving my leg, but rather to keep myself from getting a horrid ticket. I have a feeling not even cruise control is going to save me from that in the Evo.

I've driven the last 10 years w/o cruise control. On my current car I regularly take long trips and have no problem. I do think that cruise would be nice to regulate you from going too fast. I have a tendency to do this.. hehe

In a car where you can't help but to hear the engine revs, you will become very good at regulating your speed by sound...and doing it subconsciously at that.

In my previous car (Type R), I had no cruise. I would often take 4-6 hour trips. I put 55k miles on it in 2.5 years. I never once wished I had cruise control.

SC~

Damn SC, how far do you often travel daily?

BTW, how much did you sell the Type R for?

If insurance on the Evo increases rapidly, then I would have to sell the Evo as well

I love cruise it gives your feet a break and saves on tickets. If I get pulled over for speeding I want it to be worth it not because Rob Zombie made me careless on a heavily patroled road.

My radar detector is what keeps me honest, not my speed control.

I did, and do drive lots. I was at one point driving a few 250 round trips per week on top of my daily commutes. I also went to autocrosses in neighboring states....and roadcourse events 3 states away.

Now that I live in VA, my daily commute is 60 miles. I easily expect that my Evo will accumulate 20k miles a year.

SC~ who sold his Type R for a hair over $18k.
