03 EVO that is stock...need to worry about blowing diffs?

So all the chatter I've heard about the 03's is that eventually the diff is going to blow. It's bone stock, I bought it to have fun with and do drive aggressively but I don't track it all that often. Any insight into this?

Thanks that is what I was looking for. The car will probably never see a drag stirp and likely won't ever be launched.

Hard launches and wheel hop seem to be the culprit for the ultimate destruction of the front diff. Apparently the rapid loading/unloading which occurs during wheel hop tends to shear the teeth off the spider gears in the diff. Sounds sweet huh....

EXACTLY just change ur front diff to a quaife or rallyart and u should be good. Rear diff is already a LSD.

high rpm launches can kill diffs.....but if so, great reason to upgrade!

It is only the US versions that don't have the LSD in the front right? A JDM version 03 Evo 8 will have better diffs in the front?

yea.i wouldn't reccomend dropping from over 6k. went to the track and saw an evo that was revving, getting ready to drop. once he dropped it, you could just here a thud and his car stopped moving... had to have his car towed out. talked to the guy and asked him what happened and he said he straight dropped it from 7k!!!!
