This 20G should make more power. I am not sure it will stack up to a full bolton unit that untilizes an external gate and so on.

I am a fan of the 3071, spools quickly and costs $1200 for the turbo.

Who cares what the turbo costs by itself with a non-bolt-on turbo. It's not as if you can do anything with it unless you have the rest of the kit.

You can get yourself a manifold for $350 from PDT and then you have a FULL bolton Garrett unit for $1550, so that is pretty nice.

there's not that much to believe... the o2 housing can be made better, i've had this discussion before wtih someone and they insist that many people make o2 housings that are heavily elbowed like that. and that's fine... lots of people make a bad design.

if you are getting a full bolt on kit when the only way to go is a garrett turbo. there's just no way to beat garrett... how can you? they supply almost everyone with tcs, the only competitors are ihi and maybe vortech who makes superchargers more often.

the only way you beat garrett is by making a totally STOCK like bolt on setup. which is why all these modded stock turbos are coming out and many adapter kits are out too.

i think the best thing about hte aps system is that they have a tubular cast manifold... otherwise... what is to be desired about their system?

I've found that anything from this company (APS) is worth its weight in gold; and that's almost what they charge anyway!

That's too bad that they aren't making the kit for the US Evo, even though it's listed on their website..hmm. Well, I guess my only chance to get one is used. So, if anyone reading this knows of a used APS turbo kit, let me know!

Both the exhaust and intake manifolds from them are second to none. Unfortunately, they're both as rare as yetti.

EVO8LTW,

On page 7, which is where I am currently up to reading you said that with the stock turbo pump gas etc. my RS ran 116 mph trap speeds. This is correct. The rest of what you said is incorrect though.

The RS at that time was set up just like it would be for the C&D event, which included all the weight reductions we did, a built 2 liter, ported head etc. This is how the car was taken off the dyno after a long winter of dyno testing.

The 20G on my car, exact same set up as it has had all year long as far as engine/head/weight/cams etc has now gone 124 mph on race gas. This is an 8 mph increase in trap speeds. The best ET is 11.30.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Thanks,

tynidex,

The 20G is not just a compressor side modification as stated on page 8. The 20G also has the turbine wheel clipped to increase the exhaust flow.

As for making an anti surge ring for the 20G it is something we are looking into to. Drilling the shroud is impossible there isn't enough room there to drill anything.

I have another fix that I believe is going to increase power AND drop the surge issue....

I try really hard not to misstate anything a vendor has said, so my apologies.

I guess you added the head after it came off the dyno but before going to the event because the dyno thread where everything culminated in 393 whp didn't include a ported head.

So, just to confirm:

(1) Stage 4 + ported intake and throttle body + ported O2/housing/manifold + EMS + pump gas = 393 whp on old Dynojet; no track testing (source)

(2) Same as above + ported head and built bottom end, still on pump gas = no dyno numbers, but 116 mph trap speeds (your post above)

(3) All of the above + 20G + 118 race gas = 124 mph trap speeds (your post above) (~425 whp dynojet based on your Mustang dyno?)

Please correct me if I have anything wrong.

Sounds good, I have my ideas as to how you are going to eliminate this. I will wait and see if I am correct. Keep us posted
