New Evo or Used?

Hey I have 10,000 to use as a down payment on my evo.

I would like to get a new evo but I was kinda hoping for the monthly payments to be pritty low.

What do you think I should do?

Get a 05 with 0.0 APR...Personally I would save your money and put probably about 2K down. The reason I say this your paying no interest on the car, keep the money in the bank and ur earning interest...

Depends on what you can afford. I would get a new one if I was in the same situation But if I could not afford a new one I would look for a used on with no mods and mileage still under warranty that way if it has been ragged on it might still be under warranty somewhat. Best of luck to whichever decision you make

I tried to buy a 2005 here in Pittsburgh, with leather and sun roof, upgraded stereo. Price was $33,000

I found a used 2004 with only 3,000 miles on it. Bought it for $27,000...saved $6,000 over new

Same exact car, same color, same options. The only diff was the 5hp that the 2005 have.

I put $2,000 into the car with the upgraded exhaust and Xede.

If I was you, look for a low mileage used one, only put down a few thousand, and keep the remaining money to spend on mods.

You can always put your payments out for 72 months. I have never kept a car for longer than 36 months....

...the way I look at it...base it on what you feel you can afford each month. Don't worry about how long you have the loan for....you'll have car payments for the rest of your life

You really have to be sure of a used evos history. People tend to drive them hard.

If you get a used one, be prepared to possibly shell out the cash you saved.

In a way I could agree buying a year old EVO with low miles for 2-4k cheaper possibly more however, you dont get 0.0 apr. In the long run your paying more for the used car compared to the 05 w/no apr. JMO And your very right "base it on your feel you can afford"

if buying used, you need to do an in-depth inspection.....you should check the car pre-drive, preferrably on a lift or at least ramps...this is NOT a big deal if you're forking over $20K+....then again post drive. let it sit for awhile...check for leaks, etc...

Next, be sure to do a compression test...this will prove helpful making sure the cylinders are still producing/holding pressure. Checking oil, tranny fluid, etc are a given.

I cannot stress enough, do a compression test.

If there is a boost gauge, make sure you're boosting properly. If you have an OBD-II scanner, plug it in and see if there are any codes stored or anything.

Overall just do your diligence.
