Hey SC,

Just saw your post about the guy working with 4 dealerships thing. Well, that sure isn't me! When I faxed Jack my deposit info I did make mention of one other dealership - I wouldn't normally put down more than one deposit at multiple places, but the problem is my car died about 3 weeks ago. I'm car-less right now, which is a very, very, very (I can't iterate this enough) inconvenient situation. I can't rely on my friends to drive me to places all the time, and I can't even get food if nobody is around to drive me. It is a rather urgent situation and I did explain that to him, so I hope he understands. I was rather selfish move but hey, he did get the blue in so I'm going with them ya know?

EDIT: when I mean died, I mean.. it's DEAD. the engine needs a complete rebuild which will not only take time but money for a car that's past its prime, IMO. (it's a '87 Volvo)

Ok, good, that wasn't you then. I know what you mean about having no car. I sold my Type R over a month ago because a real buyer came knocking. Since then I've been borrowing my gf's car to get to work...and driving my 40 year old Mini around town..huhu

I seriously doubt your cultural origin will win you much favoritism. But I guess you never do know till you try. I went to Stolmans too, before I put my deposit down at Sheehy. I know the exact guy you are talking about. He struck me as obnoxious and inflexible. He was actually the main reason I decided not to put my deposit down at that place.

I'd think that having your name attached and deposit down on a specific car due to arrive imminently is much better than being 15th on the list and having a deposit down to keep your spot in line (not to reserve a specific car).

I'm pretty sure your car will arrive at Sheehy before your number comes up at Stolmans.

Either way, we should all meet up once we get our cars.

SC- Funny, I used to live about a mile form where you work, and I now work in NOVA (couple blocks away from van dorn and franconia crossing) Now I live in silver spring, where new hampshire crosses 495.

I can relate to you both and even surpass.. My '90 jeep wranagler died on me in late november, I figured I could get by for a month carpooling with friends, and borrowing cars sometimes.. Then jan 3 rolled by and Evo's werent expected to be availabletill late feb, so I bit the bullet and paid for my sisters car to be shipped down to me, she wasnt using it, and I needed it. It has been slowly dying in the last few months too, so the evo better hurry or I'll be walking into the dealer to pick it up.

Sounds like a good idea to me!

Yeah, with the Evo being a limited production I'm thinking bargaining may not get anywhere. But if the guy isn't a 2nd generation Taiwanese (meaning he was born there and then moved here) its possible to get a nice markdown. In Taiwan a large part of the economy (aside from department stores) works on a bargaining system. So who knows?

But then, if assuming nobody's got a deposit on a blue before I did, then that blue one at Sheehy is probably mine! Guess I'll just have to call Jack in to get a confirmation sometime, been real busy this week, not to mention I gotta call up Salvation Army to get my car towed. I wonder if they'd want a non-working car?

SC,

The blue that came into Sheehy is already sold. I was told I could try to "special order" the car I want, in which case it wouldn't come in until May. That's What the hell am I supposed to do without a car until May? Well, the Stohlman gets 8 Evos allocated per month, or so they say. If I'm #13 on the list it's possible I might be able to get one by next month. This really sucks, I hate jumping dealers all the time but without a car I really don't have a choice.

I work for Hersons Honda, and we own Rockville Mitsu... I know they are marking theirs up... but I know they have 4-5 available for reservation...that what they told me. We had a red one come in for service (cali plates?) it was freakin sweet

They've got a red one and a yellow one sitting in the showroom in Bellevue, NE. They aren't spoken for and there is no markup. Way too expensive for me. If anyone wants their contact info....contact me and I can set you up with a great salesman there.

That's you right ahead of me...... ......it's all good! I had talked to someone at Sheehy on the phone at one point and they told me that if I put my deposit down it was non-refundable but I wanted to know what number I would be if they were to actually have a list they wouldn't tell me so I can't deal with them even though the price is right. But I guess since Stohlman is supposed to be getting 8 per month we'll probably cross paths.

The Sheehy deposit slip I signed didn't have the words "refundable" on it, but the guy I was working with (Jack) told me I could go ahead and just write that the deposit was refundable on the sheet, so I do have two deposits down... man. Not having a car is getting worse day by day. My roomies are always out with their girlfriends and I'm stuck at home w/o a car

I'm actually not *positive* I'm #13, but I was told there are about that many people on the list when I was there. This really sucks, because had I known that my car would die, my deposit would have been in there last year!
