04 Modded Evo vs 04 Stock Mustang GT

On dragtimes.com (where REAL people (not magazines) post up their times and timeslips) the fastest stock 2004 Mustang GT I could find was 14.0x, there was two of them, both stock, same time (14.0x), so I'm pretty sure the topic started can win.
I think off a roll it would be a good race, but off the dig, it's going to be all Evo.
The Mustang GT has a modular motor, plus dohc, which tend to make power up top. A buddy of mine has a GT, and it's surprisingly quick off the roll, especially at around 60mph+. I had a few mods to my LT1 Camaro, and he would pull me from about 60mph up to around 100mph before I'd start reeling him in to pass him.
I've never raced an Evo, but from what I've heard, their top end isn't real strong. Also keep in mind, despite the weight advantage, the AWD will eat up more power because of the additional reciprocating mass of the AWD system. Even though the Evo has 276hp (286hp now?), it may only be putting down 230whp, while the Mustang may be putting down more because of the RWD not sucking up as much power through the drivetrain.
I'd much prefer the Evo to a Mustang. They can both be made pretty quick for reasonable sums, but the Evo is the more well-rounded performer, bar none. In extremely high hp applications (500+hp) I think I'd take the V8, but anything under that, I'll take the Evo's 4g63. Once hitting 500hp with a 4cyl, things start to get very expensive.

I've never been beat by a mustang, even stock.
when i was running high 14's at the track(still learning to launch AWD) i was beating ever GT there includeing a 05 that had at least an exhaust done to it.
you with ANY mods will own it bad, also a guy on base here has about a 95 gt and its got a little work done to ti and it runs 15's.... he might suck at driveing but hell thats slow

Mustangs are ugly, low quality cars engineered and manufactured by lazy union employees who take smoke breaks every 30 minutes. All they can do is go in a straight line faster than the average car. Your EVO competes with $100K sports as well as rally cars, but looks a little strange, enjoy your car for what it's worth, there are very few cars like it. BTW, don't even bother racing that GT trash - it will leave a bad taste in you mouth.

Secondly, Mustangs were never meant to corner on rails, but they will corner. I've driven plenty of them to know. They're not going to outhandle an STi or an Evo, but they aren't the poor handling cars that you make them out to be. You're way off the mark.
But I will agree with you that union workers do tend to be lazy. The only people that are in favor of unions are people that don't want to work.
It's attitudes like yours portrayed above that is the cause for so much animosity between domestic and import fans. Try being an ENTHUSIAST instead of a fanboy, and you just may surprise yourself with how much more enjoyable the automotive hobby can be. Just a suggestion......
You can say what you want about Mustang drivers, Camaro drivers, Vette drivers, etc., but when it all comes down to it, even among the domestic owners, the STi and Evo are some of the most respected performance cars on the road. Most people that I know that own Camaros and Mustangs also have either an STi or an Evo parked in their garage as well, and in some cases, both, which are their daily drivers.

Ok...back to what he was asking...
A coworker of mine has a 2003 GT, with exhaust and a 4 point rear - otherwise stock. Him and I go to the dragway all the time. Best he has ever gone was a 14.0x. I have similar mods as you do but I try not to push my trans. and I run 13.0x's. We have gone up against each other many times at the strip.
Its not a race.

I'm just going to choose to ignore future posts by the previous, because he's clearly not a positive influence of the forum, and appears to be here more to start trouble than to enjoy the automotive hobby. I'm nearly positive that he will reply back with some sort of flame.
I think we should all just do the same and overlook him......

From a dig, I desroyed him BAD 4 or 5 times without launching hard... With CAMs and a better tune I would have walked him for sure. This was a very fast car and I was shocked how hard it pulled up top... I started to imagine the results if it had been an SC Cobra!!!!
Am I wrong or is the EVO's AWD system viscous? Doesn't that mean that the car is FWD until the front wheels start to slip? IF that's true then the AWD system wouldn't "eat HP on the highway" but the weight is still there.
When I was STOCK I beat a STOCK 2003 Mustang GT from a roll-on... in Sweden...
You should most definitely kill it with ease. Its heavier, and has less power, and you have the advantage with traction from a dig. Dont sweat it. I wouldnt even if you were stock.

on the expressway awd isnt that impressive unless your going around curves, understand all power to one spot on a staightaway is better than to four spots,if uyou understand, from a standstill its the complete opposite
