Arrow Should I do this ECU trade?

Ok here is the story. I got my ECUTek flash at srm performance center (very cool guys ) . My car got dynoed. (See images below) The boost doesn't hold and peak HP gain from the tune was 8hp.

I showed Tyler@Works (very cool guy ) my dyno graph. He thought the flash wasn't too good and the Works P2Flash can do better.

He offered me a super big discount (pretty big) to trade a brand new stock ecu with the P2 Flash (which is promised to hold boost to redline, and a promised higher HP gain) in exchange for my current ECU with ECUtek (and the ecutek license).

Now I did some research. My big question - is it safe holding 20psi to the redline with everything stock? (i'm getting a jdm mr bov soon)

Please help me decide here, thank you in advance for the comments.

You should probably do some research about switching ECUs, because ours are not interchangeable due to the immobilizer. Unlike with DSMs, you can't just exchange ECUs, unless I'm mistaken.

Anyway, as for what PSI is safe to redline, again you should do some research. Not only is 20psi safe on 93oct, but so is 21 or even 22psi. 21 is better than 22, because it won't cause knock. 20 is fine, but there's no reason not to run 21...

I would advise you to get the car retune with Ecutek since you already have the license. There's nothing Ecutek can't do that Works P2 flash can do.

What other mods do you have on your car?

Let me show you some of our tunes on the shop 03 Evo. Please keep in mind that we have an 4wd Mustang dyno that read low compare to others.

Bone Stock:

Stock w/ Ecutek:

3" dp and 3" catback w/Ecutek:

Dyno Graphs of other setups

Hope that helps!

Thanks,
Tom

The car has no mods expect a bmc drop-in filter. the thing is, i dont want to put too much money down. i put down a lot already (699 + 110 dyno/tune). the reason i'm consideringth is works is giving me a good deal.

We can do a custom retune on your car for $195 per hr if you already have the Ecutek license. It usually takes an hr to do.

Also, you might run into warranty issue when you swap your ECU.

OK, so by that time you would be at $699 + $110 + $195 (asumming only 1 hr required) = $1004. Wow, all that for a ECU reflash. Since you already have the license, how much does WORKS charge for Ecutek tune?

works gave me a good deal but i've decided against it. basically from what i understand the ecutek licence is valuable :P and yes, this tune costed me a ****load of $$$. a lesson learned the hard way.

Works offers ECUtek as well, your license fee is per car so you already have the license. So get a great "ECUtek" tune from Works. Remind them that you already have a ECUtek flash and thus the license.

Just want to clear things up....the license is on the ECU itself...not per car.

Works can do a base Ecutek reflash also but not dyno tune. We offer dyno tune service to tell you the before and after results.

WORKS can dyno tune if you'd like. However, we prefer a more "real world" environment. Or you could go with the "off the shelf" P2e (EcuTek-based Brain Flash)--nothing wrong with that and it'll hold boost all the way to your rev limiter Let Tyler or myself know if you want to hang onto your ECU and just tweak the flash.

Sorry about that...I forget you guys can dyno tune at SRM.

Can I ask what you mean by "real world" enviroment? Does that mean you guys tune cars on the street?

Don't forget to post the dyno result after you get it retune! I would not recommend anything above 11.5 up top on 91 octane.
