Sell the Evo...you don't deserve it!

 

I just traded my 03 Evo for a 05 Evo. Before the trade I was looking at alternative vehicles and one of those was the GTO. 400 HP sounded so nice. The torque on the car was amazing and it had pulling power everywhere in the RPM band. The interior was rather nice too. And, that's where it ended. I couldn't get comfortable in the seat, the seating position was too high, shifter wasn't in the right place, the clutch had 3 miles worth of travel, heel & toe was impossible, the shifter was horrible with lots of slop and distance between gears was too far, the back seats are nigh on impossible to get into even with the front seat forward, no trunk space, ugly car, etc. But, I was still almost sold just on the power alone. Until I got back in the Evo after telling the sales guy I would think about it. I phoned him on the way home to apologise for wasting his time.

Is the 06 gto faster than a 05 evo? Is your evo the MR? The gto is not that good of a looking car. A freind at work has the 03 model, its black with 18's gunmetal with polished lip. Carbonfiber hood with functional ram air, lowered. Looks nice when fixed up. Stay with the evo and add a big mod like a monster turbo if you really want more power or if you have to trade then get the evo 9. I traded in the 350z with 20's for the evo because its fast and has lots of seating and trunk. Now i get to take my wife and my 2yr old for fast rides. I kept the 20's and put them on my 05 maxima.

06 GTO- 4.9sec 0 to 60mph. No I do not have the MR. Its an 05 Evo 8. I might as well keep the Evo, I do love my Evo. One of the best cars I have ever own.

 

It takes 400hp to get the gto to do 0-60 in 4.9? I wonder what it takes the evo with 400hp? And thats including a 4cyl engine and four doors. The only trade worthy to me is the evo9 MR. Most of your mods should still fit this car.

 

I'll say this, we all have our bad days with our cars. Some days we might hate our car other days we might love it.

This what you need to do with your evo. It looks like the only 'mod's that actually added power to the car was a cat-back, straight pipe (no cat). I'll say this get a TBE, cams and gears, boost controller, fuel injectors and a AEM EMS tune and you will be DAMN happy with your car. You'll drive your car and then drive the GTO and say how could I ever think about trading my evo =)

 

omg.. Im not sure why you would trade an evo for a GTO... that car seems like and old rednecks dream car to me, trade it for a vette or m3 or something that is better.. but the GTO is half the performance car the evo is. When it comes to taking these cars out for some actually fun canyon run/autox/track day.. gto is

 

Gto is only good for driving in a straight line.

 

Something tells me you have a history of trading in your cars after you get a little bored or see something else you like. I know I do, and that caused a riff between me and my fiance for a second. But After an Eclipse GSX, Jetta, 350Z, QX4, and then I finally found the Evo in a short 5 years. She is probably just thinking how much money you will lose doing these short term car deals and got fed up.

I may be wrong, but I have been on the bad side of that arguement. I have learned my lesson, and have found a fast car with room for friends it is called an Evo!

i wouldnt sell or trade my beloved evo for that POS... i went with a my friends father to look at one. guys like you interested in a gto? im like NO why would i want that if i have that pointing at my electric blue beast. as fast as it is i wouldnt want that ugly thing.

 

GTO is a 3800lb pig. It blends in with every other car on the road. thats one of the LAST cars Id trade in my EVO for.
