900+rwhp on stock shortblock and transmission is no joke. Many are doing that without problems. Mine was only up to 500rwhp or so with T-78. I sold it when it was at about 91k miles or so. There is a reason why Supras keep going up in value.

Anyway, to the original poster, it depends on personal taste. LS series engines are one of the best V8's on the market. They are extremely mod friendly and can take a lot of abuse. You can have turbo car like gains after few bolt ons. GTO is a good car, and if you are into drag racing more than canyon carving, I guess it makes sense. Hell, it even has better interior than Evo! No offense but econo car interior is just one of the drawbacks on the Evos... I wish they did a better job with it. I know that is not the selling point of the Evos, but still I would expect better interior in a $30k car. I still love Evos and would love to get one... if I ever can get someone to trade his/her 05 Evo GSR with my G35

Dude, April Fool's was 6 months ago. PLEASE tell me you're joking about getting rid of the Evo for a freakin' GTO. That thing is a PIG, not to mention, it looks like a Cavalier. Hell, the wheels even look like those found on some Cavalier models!
I'm sure the GTO is a great boulevardier, but you'd miss the Evo on the twisty stuff, for sure. There's nothing wrong with the GTO EXCEPT for its name. If it weren't called the "GTO," it would probably sell. It should've been called the "GXP." It's what the GXP should be.....
You will kick yourself in the *** if you get rid of your Evo for some lame, watered-down Holden Monaro that weighs 3700lbs. 400hp or not, 13.1 1/4 mile or not, it's still a heavy PIG.
Props to the wife on her common sense.
