Camaro Revs & Evo Faints....

Guys, ladies, whoever.......

This is a ridiculous question, but I'm going to have to ask it.

A buddy of mine that owns an Evo commented one day that he was sitting at a light, and a really loud, rumbly big block Camaro pulled up next to him, and started throwing revs at him.

He stated that as this was going on, his car started to idle funny, and ended up stalling on him. He says that because the Camaro was so loud, his Evo's knock sensor "sensed" false knock, and stalled his car out.

I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. He claims he's dead serious. So, what's the deal? Does this really happen?

You guys can't possibly be serious!

Is Mitsubishi aware of this problem? Honestly, this could seriously cause an accident, especially if a big semi passes on the highway or something, and causes the car to stall out.

While it does sound funny, this could be a serious problem.

And hope that the American Muscle Car guys don't get wind of this. I don't think it's something that would be easily forgotten.

i have never had it in all of my highway driving even with trucks jake breaking and such. i don't think the loss of acceleration should cause an accident anyway. and yes quit talking about it so they don't find out. i don't want all these aholes doin it to me.

it wont cause an accident, you steering wheel doesnt lock when you stall. just be sensitive of this scenario at a stop, at speed it wont matter.

True that the steering wheel won't lock, but what would happen to the rest of the car, assuming since you are driving the car will be in gear?

Good point. Has anyone pointed this issue out to Mitsubishi?

Ok, before anyone tells me I should've done a "search," I've only been here since 9/25/05. I figured this was a case of a buddy trying to blow smoke up my ***.

So the car won't just suddenly stop as if you hit a wall? 'Cause I put the car in gear + hand break when I park on a hill, so to me car in gear + engine not running = dead stop.
