ok Heavy rain in LA today ... VERY VERY VERY HEAVY like no before.......... and my evo just dodged some iceball coming from the sky too .... (went into underground parking lot and the hail coming right after it)....


but cars runs ok =)

very little water will actually contact the manifold. most of it will hit the heat shield and evaporate or drip off. some water will contact the manifold where it's bolted to the head and not cover by the heat shield

with all these questions it making me wonder now...lets say your running hard and the tubular manifold get red hot to where you can see the red..if it starts to downpour, such as a mild flash flood. would the instant cooling cause the manifold to crack. cause you know you can't cool metal that fast. any insight would help!

alright, i have mine off and so far im good, but i was curious shouldnt we be more worried about the aluminum head than the iron exhaust manifold?

i follow all types or rally closely, ive never seen a car go out because of craked headers. and those cars run much hotter and harder than any of us probally.
