Evo Hood Vent Good?

Hey guys, just wanna know what yall think about the Evo Hood Vent. I know its an A+ to have it on the car, the air runs through inside the engine and it definitely cools the engine for best performance. But i got a stupid question bout the evo hood vent.
What happens when you drive your evo in rain or you're washing your evo and the water went inside the engine? Breakdown maybe? If you guys think theres a way to prevent water from going inside the engine kindly share with us so we'll all know. Thanks. Lancer RULE!!!

Some water down the vent shouldn't cause problems. You should be able to find the discussion in these forums.

The hood vent should be designed so any water that gets into it will be directed more toward the radiator as opposed to letting it drip right onto the engine block itself.

I think that if there were problems with the vents, mitsu would have stopped putting them in the hoods a long time ago...so they must be good

Never mind the fact that if water can leak into your engine block you have major compression issues anyway. Motors dont run to well with big holes in them.

I was also told not to sweat the rain from coming into engine bay from the vents. so far have heard no complaints or problems from those with it, so I don't know for 100% sure.

it was rainign this morning, and when i started mine, you saw steam coming from the vent after about 30 secs.. it was kinda unsettling, but it still ran good.

If you are moving, the air flow coming out the vent should act to keep water out of the vent. The Evo's vent is louvered. Most of the aftermarket vented hoods for regular Lancers have cheap painted chicken wire.

But having a wet motor never hurt anyone. All engines in all cars get wet in the rain.
