alright i know this has been covered and i tried serching for it. but i wasnt sure exactly what criteria i should type in the search box. so i figured ill just ask. what much horsepower is lost from the engine to the wheels on the evo? i know it's different since it's awd. but can someone please chime in. thx!

85% of all internet statistics are made up.

that being said... horsepower is just a estimation. It's defined as 1 hp = 745.x watts. From the factory, the Flywheel horsepower is 270ish for a evo (taken from mitsubishi). An evo, depending on the dyno makes 220ish more or less. So if you passed high school algebra, you can calculate the drivetrain loss.

More info: google it. here i'll do it for you:

I believe around 15 to 20% is lost from the flywheel to the wheels.

I've heard 95%, see I can do it too. I think he wanted something a little more concrete.

(270-220)/270 = 50/270 = 18.5%

This is just an estimate and is not factual. The only way to get the true difference is to dyno the engine itself outside of the car, then dyno it inside the car through the wheels. This parasitic loss will be some % but won't always be the same and is not linear as you add HP.

well if my algebra is still good from high school, then the drivetrain loss is about 20-21% according to my calculations.
