Any Suggestions for Mods

OK Please do not tell me to search because I have and I have learned a lot. My car only has 1900 miles on it and it seems I will not be able to get much faster until I mess with the ecu. Which I do not want to do yet unless I absolutely have to because I heard on the 05s they can detect it at the dealership. I have the air filter, exhaust, coilovers on the way. I was thinking HKS downpipe, injen ic piping, maybe a mbc? Any suggestions would be appreciated performance wise. My goal is by next summer to be able to beat my bosses modena and he is a horrible driver. Thanks!

I'm sure during your searches you found the mods that you should get next. Those searches should have said that a tune is very important as you mentioned, and that the most important mods other than a tune are exhaust and boost control. So, it would be best for you to complete your exhaust (downpipe and cat delete or HFC) along with an MBC and boost gauge.

What confuses me is that you are worried about the dealership detecting your ECU being flashed (much less likely), but you're not concerned about them visibly seeing your exhaust and MBC, which are just as likely to void your warranty claims and are FAR MORE LIKELY to be noticed. Thoughts?

Oh, and I forgot to mention...coilovers will pretty much void everything possible on your warranty. Mitsu doesn't let us touch the suspension at all, and they will immediately blame any powertrain issues on your fancy suspension setup. I'm assuming you got coilovers so early, because you are a seasoned veteran when it comes to road racing and/or autocrossing and have already learned to drive the Evo to its utter limits while in stock form. I know I haven't gotten to that point, which is why I have 0 suspension mods, yet still tend to kick *** at racing events. When I actually master the Evo in stock form, I will then upgrade like you.

Right, and they won't 'detect' your exhaust, coilovers and intake at the dealer.

Where on Earth have you heard this? Dealers prby wont go plugging in every Evo to see if the ECU has be reprogramed unless there are issues that relate to the ECU. I have found that most dealers have been quite helpful for warrenty items (free oil and fluid changes), as long as its not something stupid - like a fried clutch at 500 miles.

See Warrtalons list of parts (or mine - we are about the same) only difference are the drivers. He runs in the low 12s with his mods on his MR. I run 13.0x with my GSR(hope to be able to something better by next Wed...the only time being slow and smooth doesnt work is on a dragway, still trying to break my habits, and to shift hard and fast...). Anyway, Modenas run the 1/4, from what I have seen and read in 12.8 or so. These like all Ferraris are road/race cars not drag cars. And if your boss sucks at driving then add some tenths to the time.

Check with your dealer about what mods wont void your warrenty. My dealership actually told me to get a flash .

Thanks, well I'm picking up the sarcasm I am by far not a seasoned veteran I mostly wanted to lower it for the look I had springs but decided to let them go and get the full setup because I would later anyway. (I see your point though) Also, a mod friendly dealership like I believe mine is wouldn't look at a cat back exhaust as an issue but the ecu I feel is a much bigger deal as far as the powertrain goes... maybe I'm wrong? Anyway thanks for the help from everyone else as well. I think I'll open up the rest of the airways first then get the flash, all in good time.

Perhaps, but you aren't talking about a cat-back. You said you were going to get a downpipe. Anything from the cat forward will get you in trouble at the dealership. The flash would be the most unlikely thing for them to detect. The coilovers, as I said, will void everything anyway, so it doesn't matter if your entire engine is modified or not modified at all. A set of $1500 coilovers that voids your warranty without getting used to win road racing and autocross events is probably much less useful than a $200 mail-in flash that will most likely never been seen or detected while giving you a minimum of 20whp/20wtq that can be used at all times.

That would suck for the people on here who are on 60-72 month financing plans.

What does waiting for it to be paid off have to do with modding. A more accurate statement would be, wait till the factory warranty expires if you are concerned with voiding it.

Those two things happen to coincide for most 05 owners, and I assume 06 owners, too, since we have a 5-yr bumper-to-bumper warranty. The main limiter would be the 60k mile portion, but then again we still have 100k miles on the powertrain warranty.
