Evo 8 brings home SCCA Nat' Tour trophy!

Hey fellow Evo owners I think I got the first SCCA trophy for us. I placed fourth today in the Solo 2 San Diego National Tour in DSP. The weather was wet Saturday so naturally the car was unbelieveable, beating ZO6s etc. Interest in the car was unsurpassed. Front race tires 255/40-17 fit and worked fine in the dry today. Later an Evo 7 owner showed me an eccentric bolt to get -2 deg camber.

Also I was approached by a major suspension manufactuer and last week by an well known exhaust company to use the car to develope their products for- more info to come. Thank you guys for all for all the Evo turbo driving tips.

Czar,
In the dry I used a used set of Kumho Victoracers in the frt.on stock rims, to combat the understeer. In a quick parking lot test with one tire it seems less sticky than the soft compound stock tire, but the kumho tech said it trust it when warmed and he was right. The side walls are much stiffer, so the transient response was much improved

You can get -2 degrees front camber and -1 degree rear camber without eccentric bolts.
Cheers,

digdat,

The fastest cars were a 2 driver trailered IS300 with huge tires and flares, and a well sorted well driven 74 capri - all national caliber drivers. Super Stock ran the same heat with ZO6s, RX-7 tts, and 993 Turbo. My time would have also placed 4th of about 20? cars in SS.

SC,
Actually I called SCCA friday and they placed the Evo in SS on the spot. I felt this was too fast (at least in the dry) so they said DSP was the catch all for all turbo sedans under 3 liters. Major protests at the event so I'm sure the car will be reclassed for Street Prepared this week.

My Evo was stone stock, didn't even take out the spare or jack. I finished breaking it in driving down to the event! I did do quite a few easy pulls to redline after 600 miles and before pushing it.

WTZ,
Which position should the adjustment be for -2 deg in the frt? Do you know waht the stock camber and toe specs are? - don't have a manual yet.

Thanks

Congrat's on a 4th place finish. Do you have any pics of the race with your EVO in it? Question?, Did the brakes fade at any point in the race? Some people in other forums were talking it needed some better aftermarket pads for the front. Thanks and give us updates on future races.
