Help me with my first car choice
for a first car i would get something less expensive or more economical like others said, then work your way up. get some more experience driving first. any of the cars youve mentioned are not in my opinion suitable for someone just starting to drive. what about a new civic or rsx, gti, mazda 3.

I didnt read through the entire thread but I didn't know if you had made up your mind or not. I personally have had a few cars in my time and out of the 3 cars you posted up wanting, Ive had 2. Well i have an evo 8 not a 9 but not TONS of difference. Ive had the 350z and now my evo from your list.
Its all dependant on what you truely want out of the car. Full performance, get the evo since you wont be unpleased. I loved my Z, but it wasnt a reasonable car for me once i came back to Wisonsin. It was a great car for living in Florida. I truely think the Z is one of the best chick magnets since its much more stylish. EVO all the way for overall performance and moddability. The z was still fun and still has some *****. It topped out at 160 and didnt take a whole lot to get it there! Enjoy whatever you pick!

in conclusion. you dont deserve this car. i dont care how many A's you get in chemistry class. your parents never learned how to raise children. you dont bring up a good kid by spending 35K on them for no reason. if anything, that just hurts you in the future. dont be a ******. just get an Si.
and the biggest thing is NEVER TELL ANYONE THAT IT'S YOUR CAR. its your parents and you've done nothing to earn it. if you do. ill personally come to texas and give you a texas sized *** kicking.
i could have made this post more civil. but my point comes across better this way.

illxxblood I am sure that you have known a lot of dumb spoiled people but you have no idea how this person is. There are people that can get fast cars when they are young and still be ok, me for example.
I got a 3000gt vr-4 when I was 16 (once upon a time...), it was used but still pretty fast. So a fast, awd, manual at 16 sound farmiliar... I never wrecked it kept it in great condition sold it to my nephew who did the same thing when he turned 16.
So to the starter of this thread you just have to ask yourself deep down if you are a smart person and wont be pressured into street racing or other stupid driving activities. As well as being willing to take care of a car. If the answer is sincerely yes, then I say go for it.
Hope I made my point
wow, reading some of the response's in this thread i'm shocked, this is almost as bad srtforums...relax people, don't hate..appreciate!!!
i've owned a 03 350z, 04 sti, and a 03 evo.... all wonderful cars and your choice should really depend on what your looking to do with your vehicle! if you plan on modding your car, by all means get an evo... it's the easiest to make very fast.
i personally have gotten more enjoyment out of my evo, than the 350 or sti...
here's how i see it, being that i've owned all 3... evo>sti>350z ....
ps, if need some assistance or if you have questions concerning any of these cars pm me..
also, despite what others in or out of this thread say, get what you want!! if you parents are willing to buy you a 35,000 car then go for it!! i wish i was that lucky, others can say what they want, but if someone offerd to buy them a 35,000 car and said that they wounldn't do it or get a cheaper car, they are a liar.....
jelousy is ugly, don't be that guy.....

aznindianboi,
Trust us, we've been 16-17 before and we all own(ed) Evos, STIs, 350s, etc so there's no reason for "jealousy". Get something cheaper and not quite as powerful. Wait a couple years then re-think your automotive needs.

BTW to you driving the lancer es.... like you said, even you would have a hard time resisting an evo if your parents bought you one at a young age. So yes.... its all because the older folks are bitter about the fact that they had to work hard for their evos (which is a very commendable thing) while some young kid has one handed to him. All the comments about how "you'll kill yourself" and all that are complete bull****. I know plenty of evo drivers under 18... none of them are dead yet. One has had an accident.... but accidents seem to happen to EVOs no matter what age the driver. STUPID IGNORANT comments like KIDS CAN"T HANDLE evos is plain retarded. Driving an evo is not calculus.... clutch, shift, gas. If you claim that people shouldn't drive fast cars based exclusively on age.... then maybe they should have an iq test or a traffic violations check for everyone that purchases an evo. SO YES.... stop hating damn it... let him get his car, his blue underglows, whatever else he plans to stick on there so he can enjoy what we couldn't when we were 16.
Well, as many have mentioned before me, I'd recommend something economical as your first car, not something that has a lot of power for someone so young with no experience.
Looking back when I was 17, I was just happy to even have a car at the time, I didn't care if it was auto or manual, but something that would take me from point a to point b without hassle during high school. Needless to say, I got myself an auto 1999 Honda Civic EX and I still have it up to this day in which I am 21 years old now (going to be 22 early December lol).
Looking back when I was younger with it, I was a lot more reckless than I am now. Luckily, I never got into a major accident involving other people, but I did manage to lose control of the car and knock down a tree thanks to wet roads sustaining some damage to the front passenger fender. I turned out alright, but not the tree lol. The car suffered about $1500 in damage. I can't even imagine if I would be even alive had I got a faster car at such a young age of 16.
I can say after all those years of driving though, I am a lot more calm daily driving and I am more keen to the conditions of the road as well as being more aware of other drivers. With that said, do consider something slower for an inexperienced driver such as yourself, and just rack up some experience before you move on to an Evo.

I echo some of the sentiments written above. Do you know what you want to do with the car? Do you want to track it? Do you want luxury or performance? Are you willing to deal with a stiffer ride and compromise for the sake of better handling?
I have to say, a 350Z does seem to be a lot more appealing to the womenfolk than an EVO. I've heard more positive comments about the Nissan; the EVO seems to evoke a boy racer type of reaction from ladies.
just my 2 cents.

Chances are you'll wreck your first car.
No one here wants to hear that the wreck was an Evo. It's difficult to stay off the accelerator, and therefore your chances of a wreck goes up. Everyone of your friend will want to ride in it, and you will want to show it off. Again chances go up.
The sane decision, take all $35,000 for a car. Spend $5000 on a car (call me crazy, but buy a Saab 9000 T in great condition). Invest the other $30000 and later in your life when you know that you have regained your senses, buy a really great car.
