Exhaust Ticket! NEED HELP GUYS!

Well, I was pulled over last month for my hks exhaust cop said it sounded like 1000 bikes behind me, reason i got pulled over was it was 1am, and i brought it up to about 5k in first gear, then shut down for a red light, pretty much he got me cuz the car was to loud, i wasn't speeding, had my seat belt on, cop also gave me **** about the oem wing, he asked me if i could see his flash light, i told him yes i could, and it's a factory thing, my point is l'm going to court tomorrow to fight it, what do you guys sugguest i say? any info would help guys, thanks.

it was a $50 dollar ticker for loud exhaust which will go on my record and jack my insurance up.

i think only moving violations make your insurance go up. did the cop measure it with a decible meter? how does he know if it was above the decible limit. also if the exhaust is not CARB exempt or DOT approved then its illegal.

what are the laws in your state regarding exhaust? he might have wrote it up for "disturbing the peace" (usually a ticket issued after 10PM nationwide for any noise complaints). especially if it's $50, i don't see that affecting your ins rates unless the ticket carries points on your license. remember cops are not as dumb as you think. alot of them fix up cars as well & already know that catless systems are the only ones that are loud, unless you drive a Honda...

he gave you crap bcuz he can't afford an evo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF the court fees add up to be more than the ticket just pay the fine. If you do want to go to court I would install your stock catback on.

Tell the judge one of your exhuast fittings came loose and you have it fixed now and would be glad to have it inspected. Put back on your stock exhaust and get it checked out by them. Or better yet, talk to the DA and get it done before your court date and they will probably dismiss the ticket.

What is the wording of the actual violation? Usually, there isn't much you can say to a judge except guilty or not guilty. If you plead not guilty, you'll end up spending a lot more than if you just plead guilty and pay the fine. You may also be able to slap the stock exhaust back on and tell the judge you did so, maybe he/she will drop the ticket.

Also, I agree, it will not increase your insurance

just plead guilty and pay the $50 fine. its not going to increase ur insurance because it was not a moving violation. dont even bother wasting ur time fighting it out in court for something like that. good luck.

the key words here are "he never measured or checked it"!!!!!!!!!!! put the stock exhaust back on & go to court stating that this is the exhaust system that came from the factory. Have you heard a stock 2006 Corvette Z06? not quiet by any means...

it sounds like he gave you a fix-it ticket kinda like if you have tint that is too dark.

That is crazy.. what a stupid cop. Cop probably thought you're one of those guys who drives a cavalier or something stupid. Go and fight the ticket, there is no reason for you to pay for that. Next time that f...ing stupid cop want you to remove your exhaust. Go and fight don't give up easy. He might not even show up in court since he knows that's not a violation.

first time I heard MA give that kinda ticket ...
depends wht exactly is the ticket claims ,
needs more info

never plead guilty , that is stupidest thing u can do !!
since u already go there ,
even if they found u responsible ,
it is still that $50

The judge either dismiss it or tell u to get ur car inspected
