Engine Dampener - does it actually have use or just bling?

Ok I searched and searched. All these guys that makes engine dampener claim all these "good gains". Smoother shifting, makes engine more torquey (?)...

Is there ANY truth in these claims? Does an engine dampener actually DO anything? Or is it just pop the hood "Check out my engine dampener YO".

I need some facts please, thanks.

i got the Stillway damper in my car and the first thing i noticed is that the engine doesn't "rock" nearly as much as before when reving.
Besides this, my car does shift smoothing but isn't a night and day difference.

it killed wheel hop on my civic. it's mostly bling though. mm inserts would have achieved the same thing, better and for less money.

I have seen the Stillway Engine Damper on the dyno and the motor shift very little compared to an Evo without the damper. The reduce in movement will def benefit shifting accuracy. I would highly recommend the Stillway engine damper if you are using your car on the track or hard driving. I will be getting these dampers in stock fairly soon.

The Stillway brackets are forged aluminum therefore it will not break like other brands.

Thanks,
Tom

I would suggest doing the ralliart engine mounts, but yeah it requires a lot of work to do.

I have the Weapon R damper its great for lunching and stright line. BUT AFTER A FEW HARD TURNS MINE CRACKED ON THE MOTOR MOUNT IM SO MAD ABOUT IT $174 OUT THE WINDOW ALSO ALL THAT DAMN NOISE IT MAKES ITS NOT WORTH IT. IF I WERE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN I WOULD RATHER BUY UPGRADED MOTOR MOUNTS AND BUSHINGS.

DONT GET IT.

It actually worked for some time before one of the brackets broke. so I guess it was effective while it lasted.

I was told that if you have the original recipt from the shop you bought it from, weaponR would send a free replacement. But I lost my reciept, so the point is mute (for me anyway)

I installed one on my evo last week...

it's SO MUCH BETTER THAT I HAVE TO USE CAPS!!!!!!!!

and while it gives the improvment that you could get with motor mounts, you don't get the vibrations that you do with motor mounts...

so it's hte best of both worlds...

also will stop you from missing gears since the transmission isn't moving all over the place when you're trying to put it into gear at 8000rpms
