Im trying to get my education from you guys, my service department, and directly from Mitsubishi! I want to be on top of my game for any potential customer!

to the 17 year old that knew more than the salesperson, they should give you a job!

Best regards,

also its funny to ask the Mitsubishi dealers about the sti and the subaru dealers about the evo and then counter them buy saying what makes one better then the other.
Man! Dont you know the EVO is better???? LOL!

Im Mitsu all the way, but I have to give props to the STI!

I heard the same thing recently (but they knew what they were talking about). It was quite a fun and great experience this time around. I actually got a great deal on an 06' MR, and traded in my 03 Evo with 0 negative equity. My whole experience was the way "it should be" at dealerships.

It's nice to talk with sales folks that actually do know something about cars other than the spec. sheet.

so i went to see the evo today...
and when i get tehre... I have to be the one asking for them to help me out.

as the salesman started explaining things about the car i quickly thought about all the things i have read in this forum.

i was looking at an mr and he quickly started saying that the mr has the mivec engine now, i corrected him and said that the evo ix has the mivec.

then he told me that the acd was only on the mr, again i said that the acd actually was put in all the evo ix's.

at this point i began just thinking of the stuff that the evo has that i know.. and just stop beliving him.

and he just said, boy you look like your only 16 how do you know all this stuff about this car, and i just said, well cause i actually have researched about the car.

hahaha anyways.. you guys have all gone through this.

made me laugh, but then i showed my mom the car and she fell in love... hahahah she was like, these seats are really comfortable hahah.

just thought id share my experiences with everyone.

feel free to post some of yours.
which dealership did u go to? puente hills? fullerton? anaheim?

same thing happened to me when i went to puente hills. the sales were absolutely clueless. really sad. not to mention they had an VIII MR with 10,000 mark up at that time.

well, my salesman told me couple weeks ago ... he is no longer a Mitsu salesperson because he cannot make a living as a car salesperson... only the manager make tons of money but not the salesperson.

he was nice because he know NOTHING about cars so he will just shut his month the whole time and ask me test drive !!! (I told him no need because I already done it at other dealership).

but his manager pushes so hard on him and me .......... (this is what I dont like it) sounds like either buy or die !! if you dont buy it now .. you suck (yup his manager told me this).....

ok wanna ask if that is true that So-Cal has the biggest Mitsu Dealership Owner?? I mean I heard there is one guy who owns 4 or 5 well-named Mitsu Dealership in So-Cal LA ?? because other salesperson said this rich guy ordered 1200 Evo IXs on Sep.

i went for a test drive in August in an Evo VIII GSR, and the salesman just kept talking about how great the M3 is and if I really wanted a nice performance car, that I'd get an M3 and proceded to give me the business card of his brother (who works at the BMW dealer on the other side of the city).

My dealership didn't know the difference between all different models of evo's. Kind of sad...

After living in Japan for 12 years and following the evo the entire time, when I went to buy my '03 here in the U.S., all I wanted to hear about was price. That was the only discussion.

You want product knowledge? Go talk to the dealers in Japan - those guys know their way around their cars - and the service staff is well trained. Makes me really wonder about some of these U.S. dealers.

I called up the sales manager of my local dealership, started asking him questions about the evo, and his way of telling the difference between the MR and IX was "Ya i got one without the lil fins things on top."
Then asked whats the best deal, he gave me some speech about how everyone is asking over sticker, so he thinks his of price of sticker for the evo was fair. I asked if hed go down anymore, he said no because he could get someone else to buy at sticker. I then tell him i got offered 500 under sticker, and then he replies with, "Ill do 750 under sticker."

haha and then i said that people have been taking them out of the dealer for 40k+ and he just giggled and said yeah.

ontario not puente hills... its some mix of a kia dealer and mitsu... when i saw it from the freeway i was like . crap another dealer closed... and then i noticed that the dealer didnt close but just combine with a kia dealer... so its kinda funny walking up to the dealer and seeing a 36k dollar MR sitting next to a 16k dollar Elantra... it gave me a smile ahhaha.

17 here, drove my recently detailed RSX Type-S 05 (The clean looking one) over to misu. 3 sales people come walking right out the door as i proceded to look at the MR IXs they had outside, i say, drive there with a luxury brand or mommy's nice new car and thats a way to get some sales people going at each other, 2 of the sales people were fighting just to get me to sit down and discus when i would be intrested in it. Besides that, acura has some ok sales people, much better than mitsu, the one i talked to knew all the specs on my RSX + skid pad numbers, 0-60s and 1/4s, even knew the testing track in ohio where they have the race preped RSXs and that RSX school. Very cool guy, too bad i didn't buy from them, they gave me a price 1000 higher than another dealer and refused to go down any lower.
