salesman stories
It all depends on which sales person you get in most cases. I know 2 of the 10 sales people here has a good grasp on the evo's. I for one bypass the sales people and walk right up to the fleet mnger. I bet 99% of the people that buy evo's know more than the sales people ever will.
I am about to move in with the guy that sold me my Evo. We just kinda became friends. He hooks me up with service manuals etc etc etc....and I teach him about the cars he sells so he doesn't sound like an asshat.
hmmm.. yea thats about all I can think to say.
I thought it was rule of thumb that sales people are just that, sales people.. Most dont know what the hell there talking about or selling, they say what others want to hear so they can make a buck or two.

Salesman wanted to argue that the camshafts weren't hollow. Then when I found out they didn't have an RS on the lot like I was initially told, the salesman said the Lancer OZ is the same except w/power windows and locks.

You want product knowledge? Go talk to the dealers in Japan - those guys know their way around their cars - and the service staff is well trained. Makes me really wonder about some of these U.S. dealers.

You're not paid by the hour. You earn a percentage. Most car salesmen spend alot of time doing nothing, unless they're on an amazingly busy lot. Don't rush people, spend some time setting up a sale before you ask for the buy, and hey, that "looker" today might just be that buyer tomorrow.
Oh, trust me. I answer plenty of questions. That's not what I mean at all. But when someone is there just to try to show people up and be a smartass about how much they know, it becomes obvious. If you are sincere and just want to learn, I'd be happy to indulge, but if not, then I can't afford to spend all day playing games when I'm there to earn a living.
You are most certainly right I am not paid by the hour. That's my whole point.

Getting the loan and financing was probably the most time consuming thing because I had to have a co-signor due to me being a foreigner in Japan. In the end, I was approved for the loan, had insurance lined up and then decided that I really couldnt afford it.
I felt really bad about it because the sales guy was really helpful and worked hard to get me the deal. Interestingly enough, I am now considering moving back to Japan, and if possible, will take my Evo 8 with me. (sounds strange? I'll bet I can make a profit on a left-side drive Evo in Japan due to its rarity.)
i was ingnored at the dealer when i went to buy my evo because i looked like a young punk and (that my current car was a rusty toyota truck that was being held together by gravity.
when a salesman decided to help me i bought it from him that day and drove it home.
