Buschur gets in on Time-Attack at Button Willow
Buschur and Vesko get in on the Time-Attack at Button Willow
Super Street and EuroTuner sponsored the recent time attack event at Button-Willow. Entering my car was almost an after though. My Evo is loaded down with almost every Buschur go-fast toy out there. My friend and mechanic Vesko (a fairly serious Road Racer and Time-Attack driver) was installing yet another clutch when we started to get the idea for running Time-Attack events in my drag car.
The next day I ordered a gt35r turbo and fully built stroker motor from Buschur. The motor is a work of art, beautiful.
We intended on building the car with more than enough time for testing and track tuning before Button-Willow on November 8th. Things did not go our way. We got the car together and road worthy a week before the time-attack and broke in the new motor on the drive from Salt Lake City to Vegas. Dave and Jarrod were both in town for SEMA and the man himself tuned the car on a Mustang Dyno at the Horse-Power House.
The rest of the week Vesko tore all the four door family car pleasantries out of the Evo while waiting on the suspension. They were putting stickers on when it was being load in the trailer.
The intention was to win the AWD Limited Class and Overall. Vesko took a practice lap on my Falken street tires just to make sure nothing was going to come apart. The car was solid.
We changed out the tires to a set of Hoosiers to have another run in the unlimited class. Vesko set a 1min 52sec pace which took 1st in the unlimited class and 2nd overall. He felt the car losing power at the end of the run.
We then swapped the Hoosiers out for Toyo RA1’s and started chasing the limited class title. Vesko started strong but finished with a naturally aspirated Evo. The gasket between the exhaust manifold and turbo blew out. That run was still good enough to take 2nd in the limited class just behind Tarzan.
The GM backed Cobalt drinking more NOS than gas took the overall. It was sic.
At the end of the day the scorecard reads:
1st AWD Unlimited Class
2nd Overall
I want to thank Buschur Racing for their effort to bring this together.
Vesko… great job for building the car and driving like a madman. You did an astounding job on the fabrication and suspension work.
You all know were to find Dave.

Still, to come out there with a FWD car especially a platform with no racing development at all and lay down all of those AWD vehicles is exceptional. Almost embarrassing really. I look foward to reading about it.
especially a platform with no racing development
Anyway, congrats on the time attack man.
Can't wait to read more about it.

Buschur did a lot of cutomizing to build a stoker that is reliable.
The car feels like a rocket.

I do not have all the official numbers in front of me, but i do believe Tarzan and Works Evo came in a couple seconds behind us to take 3rd over all.
On our limited class run we blew a gasket and took second place about a second behind Tarzan and Works Evo.
We are very happy.
I would love it if someone could find all the official numbers and post them.
