Ground for dash mount gauges?

I have the 42 Draft Designs gauge panel and Stewart Warner gauges in the oem radio spot. I've constantly had ground problems with my oil pressure gauge. I had it grounded with the radio first and got lots of interferance. Currently have it grounding to the metal bar in the dash and I'm having problems with that. I know the instructions say to run a ground to the motor. Is this necessary? Where did everyone else ground there gauges? Thanks.

Hmmm, is yours jumping up to like 100psi too? I've been having the same problem with it grounded to the metal bar back there. I can try to run it to the battery and tell you how it goes.

OK on start up the oil pressure will go up that high, also at high RPMs it can go up pretty high. My gagues are grounded to one of the mounting bolts on the side of the radio (I have a Pioneer unit). You should be able to ground off almost any metal surface under the dash. It would help if you described what it was doing wrong.

at first my gauge would wiggly irroneously when i got on the gas. then it went away after i regrouned it. it was fine for months. now sometimes it reads low and shakes a bit. i can be doing 80 on the highway with 3400 rpm and it can read 40 psi and then jump to 70 and then to 50 and on and on. if i'm at idle, it will read anywhere from 15, 20 psi (normal) to ZERO (yes i said zero). obviously its not actually zero cause there is no problem with the motor or the factory light coming on. its all messed up. any ideas? and yes i've checked all the connections. they are all tight.

Run a ground to your motor! ! !

This has fixed it for many people. Personnaly I use Omori gauges and I have never had any gound problems. I have had them with my G-Tech and I will be adding an engine ground this weekend for it.

I"m going to try the intake plenem first. You want a ground on the motor and there is on there and one near that at the rear of the head.

Humm-I have those gauges and have grounded to the metal bar behind the lower cubby-I did not put them up top. No wild reading but evos do give funny oil psi readings. I get 90 on start up-then as low as 15 when its warm and idling. Normally runs about 50.

I have the stewart warner guages but am trying to decide where to ground on the motor becuase, it does state to ground it as near as possible to the sender, which is in the engine bay.
