You dont need GAP insurance if you have big down payment to cover the deprciation value of the car for payments. Also if you intend to pay off your car early you would not really need it either.

Thanks for all the support guys.. would some of you more experienced people please answer a few questions for me to help me out..

This is the first time for me so... I'm pretty lost in my situation.

1. How would I part out my car?.. alot of people on forum is PMing me, emailing me, and asking me for some parts... ofcourse they are asking this with sympathy that this is happening to me, but its not a problem.. I would do the same.. but.. Wouldn't the insurance company take the car if it is a total lost?

2. I really don't want to be surcharged on my insurance for this... and I feel as if the weather caused the accident... would I have to go to court to append this? what are the steps?

Thanks again

first, drive it or have it towed to where you can strip the parts (your house or shop) spend every waking moment taking the parts off of it until the adjuster comes and looks at it b/c they will want to tow it away and keep it.

if it was already taken, you need to talk to your insurance adjuster and explain that there are special parts on the car that you would like to keep and you will put it back to 'factory' original or you want money for them. this option might be a little harder, but if you really press them to either pay you for them or let you keep them they should relent and let you take the parts.

insurance companies are pretty unbending with the payout they will give you for the car, but you still have to accept their payment. if it is not satisfactory to you or you dont feel it is the proper value for the car dont accept the payment. most times people just really need the money to replace their car and take what the insurance company gives.

glad to hear you ok (thats most important) and remember its YOUR car until you sign that check.

Ok yah I understand that, so they already took the car right from the accident, J asked them to tow it to a friends local garage but they wouldn't do that so I'll have to go with that option to ask them to pay for the parts or let me take them out.

I always liked the stock advans and they never became a problem.. but that day was just real wet and yah they were ready to go, I was ready to change them this weekend but now its too late..

Look at the bright side, now you don't have to deal with your 5th gear grind any more. Sorry about your loss.

that happened to me too. I had bald advans on the rear and worn ones on the fronts. in the rain, the rear of the car came around on me and i went off the road backwards and sideswiped a palm tree. estiated $9k damage, may go higher. i havent driven my evo in almost 2 months. yuckk. if i had more steering lock, i might have had a chance. oh well. oh and that was at 7k miles. No more baldies for me!
