1. if a guy has to ask is that a real evo he is a moron. a guy asked me tonight if my ralliart was an evo. i wanted to give a smart response and say "here's your sign"
2. i want the evo front bumper because it looks better than others, only fb. aside from custom work the evo 8 hood is the only option. i may go with the evo 5 spoiler but i don't want aluminum so not many other options. the ralliart badges will stay on and prob add one to the front for the idiots. i may do minor bolt ons but i am not trying to be an evo. when i win the lottery then i will own an evo.
3. unfortunately it sounds like some evo owners think they are better than everyone else because they spent more $. that's sad. should have bought some security in yourself instead
4. if honda had an evo equivalent to the civic they would do the samething. some would look nice and some would look like crap, as normal

I don't buy into the whole, "If you spend all that money on an ES, you coulda had a Evo" BS. Most of the time most mods don't add up to the cost of ownership of an Evo, especially when you can sit back most months and not do anything and make ES payments as opposed to Evo payments. but you can't blame that on the lancer guys. its the persons ignorance to not be able to tell the difference from a real evo to a lancer. All they see is the word lancer and once they see its not the turbo awd rally god that everyone makes it out to be...so they get disappointed.
i had my lancer towed once and the guy came with a 2 wheel tow truck when he came out he freaked out on me and said "****, man...you should've told the operator that your car was all wheel drive! i can't tow your car!" i replied back by saying "hey, you f*in moron f* its a base lancer not an evo get your sh*t straight ya f*." [i really didn't say all those bad words or atleast not as much as i just wrote...] and he still kept insisting that my car was awd so i showed him the rear undercarriage of my car to prove that my car has no center diff then he scratched his head and said "well, it looked like that mitsubishi sports car that just came out" ...my point being that its plain ignorance of the person because he couldn't tell the difference between the two. i also want to add my car has no evo parts on it what so ever....so, how many of you can tell me the difference between an 1st/2nd gen Eclipse GS-T/GSX/RS? i can but they are really minimal changes only an avid enthusiast for the car would really be able to tell. Although the lancer and evo have huge differences on exterior they still look the same to a person who barely knows a damn about the two cars. All they know is that the "Lancer" was in that fast and furious movie! stupid f*ck faces don't know the difference between an evo with lancer "altezza" taillights and a real base lancer!? f*in morons! they should know dammit! i demand it! i own an evo i think i deserve peoples recognition that it isn't a base lancer! bahaha.

i'm just pissed of how **** you people are in regards to keeping evo things with evo's only just because you think you're so original [weeee! were all in a special club! lets b*tt f*ck!] but in actuality evo's and STi's/WRX's are played out like cross colors...but i agree if someone puts an evo kit on their car to make people think that they have an evo then thats stupid...but maybe the guy just likes the evos front, rear and side more than the stock kit the car comes with??? i duno!? it sounds far fetched to me!? and maybe this guy works @ [insert low paying job] and barely makes enough to even afford his lancer which is already cheap!

a) to alot of people, the performance of the evo is over kill and all they want is an OK car that looks good so they buy a lancer and spend some extra money on body/suspension/ rims etc..
b) even though some can afford the inital 30k price of the evo, the insurance/gas/maintanance of the evo is ALOT of money compared to the regular lancer.
c) alot of the lancer drivers are younger and they got the car as a gift from the parents. now, do you think a father would preffer to buy a 30k sports car or a 12k nice sedan?
the bottom line is that the errogant behavior and the superiority complex that some evo owners suffer from is much worse TO ME AT LEAST than a kid making his LS looks like an evo 8.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but you seem like the type of guy who could spend $1800 on a 300lb primered body kit that creates 50lbs of extra downforce at around 150mph despite the fact your 120hp car only goes 118mph...down a hill...with a strong tail wind...because your little brother was in the passenger seat cheering you on. Maybe the body kit was part of a package deal where you got a monster tach and A-pillar gauge pod. They cut you a good deal because that's where you got the coffee can exhaust that decimated your back pressure and consequently dropped your peak torque by about 40ft/lbs. Am I warm...or did I just spell out your 5 year mod plan for the car.

i'd like to add that i've spent a good 1k in going to 1 road race class and finding out that my driving skills is best for a 170-200hp car [integra gsr with basic mods and suspension] and 1 defensive driving class to protect myself from all the stupid f*cks in california with their over priced over powered cars that can barely move in the 6am-10pm sometimes 12am traffic on the freeways!!! trying to cut one car at a time and then laughing at their faces when i pull up to them a few minutes later because i just saved myself a ton of gas compared to their dumb *** trying to cut traffic haha.

To comment on your statement DriftRunSir, while I agree with some of it (namely the general ignorance of the majority of people and the apparent arrogance of some evo owners), I have to disagree on the remark about "I'd rather make a slow car faster than a fast car faster". No one here would refuse an evo if it was offered to them, its just not going to happen. If someone gave me a choice between an evo and enough money to mod my lancer to the t!ts, I'd take the evo. Why? The performance I want comes stock, which means it has the stock reliability, and stock road habits. Despite what people claim, a lancer will never be as "fast" as an evo, sure it may have similar or even better HP numbers, but two in a race (a real race, not some rolling run), the lancer would always lose. Now when I say this, I'm by no means bashing the lancer, I love my lancer, but I'm simply stating the facts.

I'm just not one of the people that does a mod to say "hey guys no ones ever done this before", I do it because I want to. If I had enough money (ie could afford gas, repairs, insurance, etc.) I'd go and buy myself something along the lines of an SRT-4, WRX or, if it ever gets here, an evo.
I'm not arrogant about what I drive in relation to anybody else. Compared to my coworkers, I might as well be driving a Yugo. I could really give 2 $hits what people think of my car. I am however totally repulsed by the bumble bee exhaust, hat sideways, slumped in the seat, 10" Wallmart subwoofer rattling the plastic, ricer crowd. It's not the car they started with that I have a problem with. It's what they've done to it. I've seen as many riced out Evos as I've seen riced out Lancers. Coming from an SRT-4, I've also seen my share of riced out base model Neons trying their hardest to be something they're not. At some point there should be a little voice in all of that says "not even Heller Keller herself could stand to look or listen to my car". Some people develope that voice earlier on in life. Others need some good constructive criticism (or verbal abuse) from a "car guy" they look up to.

i'm 20 years old, work full time as a CNA and am working towards my BSN & RN. As a CNA I only make ~$11.00 ( not factoring in overtime/holiday/PTO )
~40/week at 11.00, car payment, rent, tuition, living expenses, girlfriend... paying back my grandma for money she has lent me, credit cards, saving for an engagement ring... it's just not possible for everyone to hop in an evo as their first purchased car.
my car payment on my 02' is $250, my insurance is about the same, for an evo I would be looking at at least double ( probably more on the payment because my credit is bad, I broke a lease when I was 19 and had 2 non payments )
I picked the Lancer ES because I wanted an evo but knew I couldn't get one right now, my goal is to be able to get one when I pay the ES off, hopefully paying it off early will help my credit and I can get a better intrest rate.
I love my ES but don't try to make it look like an evo, I still mod my ES, but don't do stuff like evo 8 kits. I'm not knockin people who do though, as long as it looks good, who cares what they do? I'll admit I riced my ES a bit, I have decals ( only for parts I have in my car, i'm not THAT bad ) up my driver side, and a useless mod or two ( cat back on my N/A ES )

for me i like pushing the envelope in a tastefull way...obviously i wouldn't do something unless there was a good reason for it...thats why i brought up monster garage just to show the extremes of what rich, creative and powerfull people would do if they got the chance. for me its all about execution, quality of craftsmanship, creativity...being an automotive designer [in training] i pay attention to the small details... i can sit next to a professional welder all day and not get tired of looking at a set of headers he's been working on for a custom hot rod from the past week.
