Good grief, after reading some of these juvenile, arrogant and just plain mean attacks on other cars, I think maybe I should not be an EVO owner just so I wont be confused with the rest of inferiority complex ridden, insecure EVO worshippers. Get a hold ppl, it's only a car and not even the best car out there. Sure, the EVO is a nice car and all, but trust me, owning one does not make you a good person or a mature person or an intelligent person (of course, this is obvious as all hell). I'd be willing to be that there are far more well adjusted, bright and compassionate ppl in the non-EVO world than in it. Actually, there are lots more good people who don't own any car. Good grief, did any of you haters ever get any proper parenting? Any of you ever learn to be a real person?

 

another big thing for me, it came down to live on my own and drive a Lancer, or have an Evo and live with parents, i mean come on, I didn't even have to think about that one.

yeah, that isn't even the half of it. my girlfriend is going to St Joes in philly, so if I got an evo and had to stay home that would have been it for us, instead I bought the ES and chose to move to Philly for school =)

nah, i know your a cool guy. from all the evo vs. lancer haters threads i notice you the most to be cool about it all...don't get me wrong bro. that crap i typed up was at the end of my stick i've read too many of these threads and just reading all these newb's put in their comments just snapped me. i give far more respect for people than needed but i put up with it because i give them the benefit of the doubt hoping that they'll hopefully be enlightened and humbled. yah, i'm a real emo f* about things when i get to my edge though....

proper parenting?...yah, actually if you've ever met a traditional filipino family you'd know i've gotten proper parenting but what is proper parenting? i've got cousins who teach their kids to fight and ones that teach theirs to be smart and polite but the damn kids end up on opposite ends of how they were raised?! i don't know...i think i've read too many books and found out that this world is f*ed so i seem to be on the extreme side when i get my buttons pushed.

 

a bit harsh but i am with you on all points too often people think that a cool car= cool person which is WRONG!!!! i would much rather drive a yogu and be a cool person than being a dick with a 911tt/evo/ferrari.

well, if you guys must know haha...the only money i've spent for my car are my payments, insurance, suspension components, avic n1, ralliart grill and headlights + the 500 each for the 2 driving classes i took . everything else was given to me or taken from my previous cars either my Civic hatch or my mirage. The bodykit was given to me for free, paintjob from a friends shop, rims and tires will be from a semi-sponsor[same friend from the autobody shop], ipod harness cheap 2 dollar wire, chase cam from my civic hatch came with the car [buddy road raced the civic]

it doesn't help that i pay most of my tuition to a private art school...thank god they cut me slack for working at the book store but it still doesnt help much....i pay near 30k just for tuition a semester and professional art supplies are not cheap can you imagine i pay $3 for one designers marker [required] and i have 100's of them.

 

You will be much closer to the skyline than the lancer is to you. Especially on the track. Don't do yourself injustice

 

At least you have a car, when I was in college I didn't even have a damd car, I rode a mtn bike everywhere daily. I was fast on that bike though

 

I try voiding having to answer topics on the Lancers. To be honest, there are just a couple of things in common between a Evolution and Lancer, they are foor doors and they are made by Mitsubishi.

I could keep typing and never end but just think about common sense guys, Do you really think a Lancer even compare to a Evo 8 at all?

from bumper to bumper the cars are absolutely different they have 100% different DNA and no matter how much money you spend in a Lancer the only way to duplicate a Evo is to change about 99.9% of the parts.

These are just a few differences:

The engine output is nearly 2.5 times greater
much better rims
much better tires
much better brakes
much better seats
stronger and more reliable tranny
aluminium hood and fenders
aluminium suspension arms
turbo charger intercooler with potential of making another 100hp with $1000
Better lights
better suspension
better interior
wider body


Honestly guys, Mitsubishi made a complete different car on the Evo 8, the Evo 8 should have never being launched under a lancer name it should have been a Evolution 8 (withouth the lancer)
There are a lot of ignorant drivers that will confuse the two cars.


I see a lot of Lancer owners spending thousands of dollars trying to make their cars fasters. Cmon guys, the lancer will never be fast even with a Turbokit and $5000 in top of that.

A stock Lancer runs around high 17sec to 18 sec 1/4 mile with a good driver. Do you really want to spend $6000- $8000 just to make your car a 15sec car in the 1/4 mile, then you still have to do suspension, brakes,seats, and you name it.


I respect whatever you want to do with your cars but I just feel bad for so many Lancer Owners that are willing to spend huge amounts of money to make your car faster. The lancer Engine is very weak, the compresion ratio is not great, it has a very weak 2.0 liter engine rated to 120HP. Cars in the early 80's were making that power.

A see a lot of lancers with 17" and 18" rims, this is making the cars already about another second slower in the 1/4 mile. The bumpers in the lancer have to go, they are simply ridiculous. The front end is not too agressive in my opinion and the body is not flare out so that when you install a body kit it just don't fit right.

Feel free to spend your money wisely but understand that you can never duplicate a Evo and by the time you try to duplicate a Evo you already had surpassed the price of a brand new Evo that is still faster and nicer.

The lancer is not a car that you should spend the money on (In my opinion), it does not shine much. Consider at least a Ralliart 2.4 MIVEC. The lancer looks better untouch.

The issue here is that the basic lancer is one of the most basic and cheapest cars ever made, also the slowest in stock mode, it is perhaps the most base model Mitsubishi motor company makes right now.

Sorry if I offended any lancer owners, I apologize. You can drive whatever you want, I am not agaisnt you, I know everyone buy whatever they want, some people buy the lancer as a commuter but trying to make the car look special it takes more than just a set of 18x7" rims .


By the way guys, I used to have a nice 430 crankhp 03 Sonic Yellow Special Edition, my car was fast and I spent more than $10000 on it. The day that I traded for my Evo MR I actually realized how much SUPERIOR the 05 EVO 8 MR was. I regreted all the money I spent on my WRX, for real guys.

So if I feel that way going from a 03 WRXsuper modded to my now EVO 8 MR what do you guys think it comes to my mind when I compare a Lancer to a Evo?

I was in Aruba this summer and I saw a car that looked just like an evo. I took a closer look cuz every other car on the Island was a lancer and I wanted to see just one evo. Well I looked closer and noticed the tailpipe was on the wrong side and it was an automatic - a lancer. It actually had an evo hood, lights, bumper, everything.


Must cost an Aruban too much money (70,000 florin) to get an evo on the island there so the guy did everything in his power to his lancer.
