I drove mine today for the first time in the snow with the advans and it was really hard to stop normally. Cant imagine if I had to panic stop . It was going sideways with more than 1/4 throttle going straight. I switched the acd to snow and that made a big difference for acceleration. Im going to put my snows on tommorrow and see how much improvement there is if the snow is still on the streets.

What type of tires are you going to be putting it on tomorrow?

I have the Yoko AVS winter tires and they are great. This will be my third winter with them. I could go side to side when I first got them and I could not get the car loose.

Oh, how I wish this were true.

The roads are heavily salted in CT as well as throughout the rest of the northeast.

Perhaps you meant CA and not CT?

Umm, there is zero salt throughout all the areas I've been to in CT...plenty of sand, but no salt. Sand isn't great for chips either, but at least it won't rust the car. MA, NY, and everywhere surrounding CT uses road salt, but not CT, not to my knowledge.

Well, I've lived in CT for many years and they do indeed salt the roads. In fact, the roads just got salted the other day. The sand that you see thrown around is usually a sand and salt mix.

Ok. Where do you live? On the coast, they definitely do not use salt. Not even a mix. Straight sand. I used to live in NY and I know salt, and there ain't none on the coast. I think it's an environmental thing, and I assumed it applied all across CT.

I'm in Greenwich (which is on the coast) in southwestern CT. Road treatment will no doubt vary from town to town, so perhaps some do and some don't. Anyhow, there are places in CT that use salt so I figured I should point that out.
