no evos have clear...it's all single stage paint. The only shine comes from the paint itself...this is really going to sound like a broad comment...but it's similar to nail polish
if you use just the color it still looks shiny but chips/scratches easy you put on a top clear coat also and it protects the paint/color...

are you serious? That is some crap. SS paint is old school like carburetors. I really did not know it was used on any new vehicles. I wonder how many mils it is? I'm sure it's not too thick.

That is called the "flop" meaning you would notice the difference between the new finish and the old finish at different angle when blending. The painter would usually chose an angle to closely match the old paint so the naked-eye won't see a color mismatch.


Anyways, the painter should have blended the rear bumper to the trunk and the quarter panels. If it still doesn't match, the painter should be able to tint the color to achieve a better match then blend it. (but not 100% color match). Ask him to do that and if he can't do it tell him to just quit his job.


I don't have an evo so I'm not really sure if it comes with basecoat/clearcoat or single stage finish?
