Everyone with an 05 should call their service dept and find out if their VIN is one of the 1179 Evos affected by this recall. There have already been several 05s whose coolant hose has blown while driving.

I have a 05 Evo but have never received a letter or a call from Mitsubishi about a recall.

That's why you need to call. I think only the 1179 affected cars got the recall notice, but it's always possible that yours never showed up for whatever reason.

A recall is something that the dealer has to do for free on every car that is affected by the recall no matter what. It is a safety issue that should be dealt with immediately by everyone owning an 05. Since it only affects 1179 05s, that means not everyone has the issue, but everyone should call and make sure.

A TSB is something that Mitsu recognizes as a problem, but they don't fix it unless you ask, and I BELIEVE that they only fix it for free if the car is still under warranty, but again, I'm not 100% on that one. I'm also not sure if they will fix the TSB item unless you are experiencing trouble with it. They may or may not. I know I got my windshield rattle fixed according to the TSB just because I said it was rattling. They didn't drive it around to confirm...they just fixed it and gave it back with no questions asked. Maybe if it was a more extensive and expensive TSB, they might require proof that the issue exists first, but I'm not sure.

TSB'swill only be covered at no charge to you under warranty- they still apply after warranty has run out, at your expense.
If it is a recall, it is covered forever.
if it is federal emissions (i.e. ECU, Catalyst) it is 8yrs/80,000 miles.
California is slightly different on there coverages.

Just checked the '03's, and noticed the heater dial is noted as hard to turn. Yeah, sure is!!! Anybody get this covered under warranty?
