One glaring dissappointment in the Evo
First I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone for their input. I appreciate it and it helps a lot. I will return the favor if I find a cure for this or something else down the line.
Kaj750, DSM I believe is for Diamond Star Motors or
Or maybe it's Diamond Sports Motors I don't remember exactly. I just know it's in reference to all of Mitsubishis lineup. Eclipse, 3000GT, Lancer, and their various counterparts. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

DSM refers only to cars that were made in the Diamond Star Motors Plant in Normal, IL. 3000GTs and Stealths were not made there. Eclipses, Talons and Lasers were.
Drive the car normally for a few weeks to really break it in then change the tranny fluid over to BG Synchroshift (I or II). Nothing makes a DSM tranny shift like butter better than BG. I suspect the same is true for the Evo. BG I is dino oil. BGII is synthetic.
Do NOT use Redline! First of all, it has been known to wear out the bearings in DSM transmission. Second of all, it made my tranny shift like absolute ***. It would physically block me out of 3rd gear when cold.

Question: Will Mitsu give me a hard time for putting in a different tranny oil as far as warranty is concerned?

Did you read any of the posts in this thread at all?
For one I don't think using an aftermarket oil that's been tested and proven will do any harm. Redline was proven to be harmful in the long run. Secondly this whole thread is about issues with the gearbox in the tranny and how it can be fixed. Therefor the possible need for aftermarket tranny fluid. If the dealership tells me flat out that changing the tranny oil would void my warranty then I probably wouldn't do it. That's an expensive piece to have to replace yourself. But I seriously don't think any harm would come from it.
I had no problem speed shifting the car when i was test driving it. Believe it or not but i took the car over 7500rpm with out the ecu stopping me and it went into the next gear very smoothly. I thought the gearbox was awesome compared to my car.

I'd like to see if you'll get a marked improvement with a different front mount. If you're missing the 1-2 shift, it might be for the same reason as the Neon guys- the entire drivetrain moves in the same direction as the shifter when you're shifting, so it's like for that split second, you can't move the shifter quite far enough to engage it properly. Hobie has set up a group buy on the Lancer front/rear mount set, if you wanna get in on it.

That is why your shifter doesn't move inside the car when you accelerate.
If the reference point were the firewall, then you would have an issue.

Eh, that is awfully strange. You should've been bouncing off the rev limiter before then. Besides that what friggin dealership let you test drive it and push it that hard? That's seriously messed up.

The salesman was cool about it.
