Ok found out that i was throwing the code for overboost condition,

Now thing is i only have test pipe, catback, bov, and an air filter.

It was also cold a bit. Can anyone explain why and is there a way to fix that?

Thanks

p.s. also i use to own a greddy boost controler but i took that off to help but it still does it

actually i would put the boost controller back in and just set it lower. The car will run more efficiently if its cold and will run a little more boost also.

yes, you could also get a flash to remove boost cut. Have u ever experienced boost cut yet?

Well the problem is that the stock boost control on the evo isnt calibrated well enough for your mods. Your car will spool earlier and faster and thus overshoot more than a stock evo. The colder air adds even more to the effect.

What you need to do is put the boost controller back on and adjust it down so that boost overshoot level (peak boost) is below overboost threshold calibration.

Or an even better idea: get a mail-in flash or custom flash with you BC put back on. This should get rid of your programmed boost/fuel cuts. You need a boost gauge if you dont already have one.

Edit: read your response given while i was typing. Buy a mbc, a boost gauge and a flash. Youl be all set. Plus youl have a lot more power.

is this bad? I know the boost will be higher on cold weather like this. So more boost causes fuel cut is that bad?

i threw the same code 2 days ago, the ways to fix it are really only port ur wastegate, or get a external wastegate setup, its due to boost creep cause by low back pressure. If u wanna clear the cel unplug ur battery for a lilw hile and plug it back in and ur all good with no light.

ok figured out what the problem was for my overboost maybe others can use the information.

I had installed a boost controller prior to this problem happening. When you install a boost controller one of the restrictor pills is taken out. Now if you were to take out your boost controller and run it without putting back the pill you would get overboost.

So that was the issue, im doing a flash to correct the problem rather than putting a restrictor pill back in.

Now if you take out the wrong restrictor pill you will only boost like 10-12 psi. But that is the answer to my overboost and hopefully others can use the info when something like this happens to them.

If you are going to rely on a flash for boost control, then you absolutely must return your vaccuum hoses back to stock TO INCLUDE BOTH RESTRICTOR PILLS. You need to have the exact factory hoses back in place. Do not remove your MBC and start relying on the BCS for boost control without everything back to stock. The flash will regulate boost THROUGH the BCS which expects the pills to be in place. There should be a pill in the short line from the tee to the compressor nipple, and another pill in the long line from the tee to the BCS. All you have to do is put the original boost lines back in place. I can't imagine what reasoning would cause you to re-install lines other than stock that don't have the restrictor pills.
