HKS RS intake, how bad is it?

I was thinking about getting the HKS intake, but someone told me that these types of filters dont filter for ****. is this true, and what will happen in the long run with this intake?

good looking intake. without a tune it was junk for me. i had big problems with it in the car with no tune. spend the 200+ on a reflash or something better than an intake. Search for more info

^ It depends where you drive, I did my first filter untill about 10k and it was still fine.

I bought another filter recently and washed the old one, worked perfect. Once this one gets dirty i'm going to put back in the old one and wash this one, then repeat the cycle.

I also ran this intake for a long time without a tune, never stalled once or lost any power.

this will make you run like crap without a tune, your MAF readings will make you run pig rich and you will lose hp and mileage. Although, with a tune this is known to be one of the best intake systems on the market for our cars however....the filtration sucks. So this is why you have to change out the filter every 5k miles to avoid having foam pieces inside your turbo and exhaust system.

if my car was tuned for the buschur filter, will the RS make or change that much, i wouldnt think so.... its not as a large of change than a stock airbox to the RS filter

the buschur cone filter does change MAF readings but not as dramatically as the RS suction kit. I believe you might want to check with MR. BUSCHUR himself. Go to the website and get the contact info to give him a ring. My guess is "yes" you would because the MAF readings change quite a bit with that RS system but call to make sure.

I have never heard of anyone having foam peices inside the turbo or exhaust.

They don't filter for crap.

Period.

Go knock out your stock filter and look at all the garbage that falls out. Then ask yourself if you would want all that stuff going through your engine.
