Question Taking off the wing..........

Hey guys wats up? I tried taking my wing off but it is stuck on with some sticky strap and I was wondering if I took the trunk off for a little bit just to feel how light the car is, could I just stick the wing back on? Do I need to buy new sticky straps or something? I tried the Search button but everytime I try to search something, it says that it is trying to relocate my memory to make room for something.........?!!?

I think I read somewhere that you don't need to put the double-sided sticky tape back on.

its no special sticky strap man....just 2 sided tape...rip that ish off if your taking off the wing. you dont need it on to put the wing back on either but you could always buy some two sided tape from 3M for a few bucks and put it back on

2 bolts you have to unscrew and thats it, then you just nudge the wing back and forth. it will eventually give way. becareful thought you might scratch the trunk.

Thanx guys, I just wanted to take a few pics of my evo with the wing off and wanted to see my evo look like an RS and feel how light the car would feel. I could just take my wing off and then put it back on without the straps and it would still be nice and solid on my trunk right?

I took mine off and noticed that it lifted up in the rear end under heavy braking......at about 120mph on an off ramp that wing comes in handy.....

It's easier if you do this with a friend or two.

First remove the four bolts, 2 on each side.

Then you're going to have to pull on the wing, it's held down by the adhesive along with 2 clips. Don't be afraid to pull a little bit, its easier to do this with 2-3 people. You can pull on the wing evenly and also have somone with a knife ready to cut the adhesive when it begins to stretch.

I ended up putting mine back on in the end, good luck

Best time to do this is on a nice hot summer day. Leave the Evo out in the sun for a little while then try taking the wing off. The adhesive is a lot more pliable when warm.

You have to get some Dental floss, or fishing string UNDER the wing, move it back and forth, like you are sawing it(back and forth), and the adhesive will come off easy, as will the wing. DONT forget this step!
