I drive my Evo very gently. I always shift at 2500-3000RPM.

Except for yesterday. I was going to lunch, and my co-worker and I were both pulling up to a red light. He then makes a right and busts a U-turn to get past the light. Of course he and the rest of the guys are making faces and laughing at me and my passengers as we're sitting at the light. So when the light turned green, I freakin' floored it and just took off, shifting at about 6000RPM, which I wouldn't ever do unless I'm on the track (in which case it would be somewhere around 7100RPM).

He told me that he was very frightened at how fast my car was gaining on him between the two light. I felt really stupid about doing that on a city street (though completely empty, non-residential), and will never do it again.

I usually drive it pretty easy. I hate to see the gas hand fall too fast. That is unless someone is asking for it!

I drive my evo very hard every day, but it's never seen a track. Regardless, I've never gotten better than 18.5 mpg (before and after Vishnu tune), the best I've gotten out of a stock set of Advan's was 10k miles, the best I've gotten out of S03's is 12k miles, and yes the car is aligned. Had to replace pads/rotors at 25k miles. But I'm still on the stock clutch at 44k miles

The point I'm trying to make is, the car can take the abuse of hard driving, as long as you don't get stupid with your driving style/skills.

I think you bought the wrong car then. I have never once driven with any concern for the gas gauge. I boost all over the place all the time and am happy with 19-20mpg. That's plenty for me. I knew the gas mileage wasn't great before I bought it, and I would not have bought it if I wasn't able to make full use of its abilities all day, every day.

you get 19-20mph boosting around town all the time?

i get 16mph at best when im beating on it for most of the tank. I do find myself wasting gas going out of my way just to follow some car that looks like it might wanna play....and 9 times outa 10, they don't play.

The MMC told me that the norweigan dealers have 5 years warranty as standard on all mitsubishi`s they sell... The other who give 5 years warranty are only goodwill from local dealers...
