US/UK-Jdm Specs.....

hi there....iam not 100% if this is the right section but ill take the chance.

as iam based in ireland iam lookin to buy some carbon goodies and coilovers etc for evo 8.thing is ive been searchin thru the various us evo sites and to get stuff shipped to me with euro/$ exchange rate its quiet cheap so heres what i need to know....

would aero parts like say carbon boot doors/bonnets/spoilers etc be same size spec over there to uk/jdm car?i almost sure they are but i want to be 100% sure.

secondly would chassis parts be same?for example coilovers and exhausts etc i know there is the left hand drive issue but would this affect suspension etc??....does anyone know of they are same in us....

any help anyone could give on this would be great....

I love you UK guys. The bonnet and boot would be the same. There isn't any difference with the shell of the car, so say you want a bonnet from Seibon (or any other generic company) it would fit. Just as the craze for JDM parts are over here in the states (they fit) they should be able to fit your car as well. The same with the exhaust. Oh and some people might get a little confused ( i have been stationed in Engalnd for four years ) the boot is called a trunk and the bonnet is the hood , god i miss the UK. Good luck brotha.

Hey, I notice that you drive an evo 7. I too have an evo 7 directlyout of Japan. I can tell you that everything is NOT exactly the same. Let's remember 2 main things. 1. The evo 8 was the first one officially launched in the usa and 2. They have lhd cars while we have rhd.

I've found that most parts fix but not all so do your homework. With that said, I also know that the coilovers and exhausts from the evo 8 fit with minor adjustments.

Hope this helps.

yea that certainly does put me in the right direction....

so from what i can gather body mods like "hoods" and "trunks" lol will match up fine.....and the chassis itself is the same but i should double check everything mechanical to be sure it fits...i had taught bout the prob of rhd and lhd so likes of steering racks etc are a big no no......is there many places sell parts for the evo 7 as its nearly all the evo 8? did they not sell the 7 in the us at all?

Brakes springs and dampers are the same also. I can confirm pads/calipers/ss hoses and front and rear struts for the MR (Bilstein and those horrible hipermaxes).

I don't know about other makes, specially american but they should be the same. I remember a lot of makes like Tein acutally use the same part number for the us and jdm.

however, does anyone know if the I/C piping are interchangable? I hear the Samco hoses for the turbo aren't!! (7-piece rather than 8-piece, can't remember which way round...)

the Rear Pumper of the US Evo is Diffrent than the UK one ... so the Carbon Fiber rear exhaust shield won't fit
