I think the main reason for it is to catch oil and leaks and help keep the pavement clean? I have taken mine off and put it back on at least 4 times in the last week. Once more, and that sucker is staying off!

much easier to locate leaks etc..with it off

Mine got ripped off last year in some snow. I just got one off another local EVO owner about a month ago, but its been too cold out to put it on. I can't stand taking it off, but I can't stand a dirty engine bay either. Without it, the engine bay gets all dusty.
