Looking for a rollcage.Need help
Hey,
Like said above. Im looking for a roll cage. I havent seen much on them. Lancershop has the cusco cage. Is there any others? Do the cages take away from the daily driver? Well...Are they comfortable in a daily driver. Do they take the use of the back seat? Anways let me know. Pics are welcome also. Thanks

What are your requirements? NHRA, SCCA, NASA.......................
Probably just for show, look for any of the fancy chrome or painted ones. Yes they do interfere with back seat. No they are not practible for daily driving. why? Try hitting your head on one without a helmet, it hurts. Your passengers will not like it either.

yea im going for bas. show and for track. Im not sure on the req. But i def. dont plan on wearing a helmet everyday. I can do w/o the back seat tho. I am also looking for something that bolts up.
Go with a roll bar. A full roll cage on a daily driver is asking for trouble... I am currently searching myself, and after speaking with Tony at TC Designs, it sounds like a bar that bolts into plates that are welded to the frame is the way to go. This allows you to remove the bar for daily driving (and you can have passengers in the back seat), and when you go to the track, bolt in the bar.

A half-cage (i.e., 4-point roll bar) would be a better choice for a car that sees lots of street use. Remember, even with a half-cage you need fixed-back racing seats. Also, you can never have any passengers in the back seat ever again. Keep that in mind.
Finally, check with your insurance company before adding a rollbar or cage. Some companies in Canada have started cancelling policies for these "off-road" mods. You wouldn't want to get into a fender bender with your shiny new 2005 Evo and find your insurance company denies payment because of your cage. Look into this closely before you pull the trigger. This is why it's better to have separate cars for the street and track!

From the limited amount of knowledge I have on roll bars, I read somewhere that the cusco roll bar needs to be cut to fit properly. I know the autopower one is a 4-point bolt-in.

I've heard that you can't get track tires in the back seat because of a cross bar that's in the way.
I'm going to have a local shop (TC Designs) custom design mine to suit my needs. Perhaps there's a skilled shop in your area. But if you need something inexpensive, it seems like it'll work.
