Im going through this problem right now, I just bought my Evo, 2 weeks ago, (used) from a nissan dealership (was lookin at the 350Z) <-- glad i didnt get it! but yeah, the stock wing is a 1 complete unit, and when i bought the car, it had some cloudy spots and a piece where the clear coat chipped off, so i made the dealership write a work order to have it re-cleared, and it will be ready to go tomorrow! just get it recleared!

I have 45,000 miles on my evo and my dealership denied my claim. Said it would cost $1,500 for a new one. I was thinking about just painting the top part of the spoiler.

I paid $100 to have my wing re-cleared, looks OEM and it won't ever fade because it is a higher quality paint.

The whole spoiler is carbon fiber, the sides are just painted white. Also the geniuses that tried to steal it used a saw on other portions of the wing.

Talking I'm getting a new wing

My new wing will go to the body shop for paint on Friday. Good old Riverside Mitsubishi. I have 35200 miles on the clock.
I tried to get the body shop to strip the primer for the all carbon look but they refused and the dealer said that it had to be painted.

I've called HB Mitsubishi and the service guy told me that they only cover it for the 3/36k instead of the 10/100k warranty.

I was also thinking of painting the center area the same color as the car. More sponsor area like a racecar, but the resale value will go down.

Also not sure if waxing the wing will help. It's the clear coat that sucks.
