Makes sense just wanted an idea of the difference of money per month of the evo and si. But ill find out. But is a 06 si a good investment rather then a Evo financially.

So are you guys saying if you keep your Evo stock and don't do any track racing the cost to maintain is still the same? cause Im also considering an EVO and im 21 in college and just landed a decent job paying around 1500 month untill I graduate, I pay bout 600 on bills (Im curently living with my folks so I pay the bills) and the rest I keep, So I'm willling to put around 4-5k down for an IX GSR, and I did the math and that will come around to be 430-460 a month and the insurance will be under my dads name so It should be around 130-160 a month. does this sound like I could afford the car or does the EVO give to many problems in stock form?(I read around and found out that most of the problems are from modded evos)I was going to buy the VIII in 03 but decided I cant afford it at that time so I waited untill I could get a better job.

It's too early for the IX but everyone's assuming that the problems will be minimal because of last year's model (05).

03s had the most kinks.

I guess I should wait another 2-4 months to see if the car IX has problems.

About. I haven't heard much on the boards. This car came out early October too. So that's probably a good sign. Anyone here work in Mitsu's shop know?

I currently have 10,000 miles on my 06 IX, which I bought in october of '05, and it has performed flawlessly. The car runs strong with no problems to speak of, btw I was probably the first person to own one in socal.

I guess the IX is more reliable then I thought, any ways that is a lot of miles for having the car for three months, I'm guessing I'll put about 13000 year when I get my car.

Evo's are for older guys and gals that have had a few fast cars and can drive them with caution and not show off and try killing someone else on the streets. Also you need to be financially stable. Its not just the $35k for the car its the addiction of modding and all the cosly maintenence. Get a nice used car you wont mind crashing.

Im 29 years old and I am an ADDICT when it comes to this car. I spend 1/4 of my income on it.

I was in a similar predicament, I was just out of college and wanted a new car. I luckily fell into a 55k+ year job. I decided to wait a year for a new car; In the meantime my priorities changed and I decided to buy a townhome. If I had bought the new car when I wanted I wouldn't have been able to get my(awesome)new home. Now after 2 more years I am in the market for a car and guess what, evo here i come. I know its hard to look into the future, and you said you aren't rich so if I were you I would wait. 500 dollars a month for an evo IS alot of money. The new civic is a great car, 200 ponies...the new G6 coupe is pretty badass too imo, either one of them is a great choice. SInce you said your parents are going to put the down payment for you put the money towards the civic. By the time you are ready it may be paid off and can use it as a daily driver, thats the perfect scenario. Im hoping to use my crap civic dx as a DD.

So far my evo is more reliable than both my subarus(knock on wood) my wrx and sti both gave me so many truobles before both the motors blew. I always thought the evo was a very reliable car thats why when my sti's motor blew I didn't go with another sti.
lol yeah thats a hell of a lot of miles in such a short time but I have enjoyed every single mile of it. This car is such a blast to drive, I like it much better than my 20g powered sti and my evo is still stock

Tough car to own if you or your family dont have a lot of money(High Insurance, Premium Gas, Synthetic oil changes, cleaning it every week) I got my evo when I was 18, but I decided to go to night classes at a Community College and work full time So I can handle it.

But if your gonna bring this around campus watch out for ******s, I suggest off campus housing, but freshmen dont do that.

Get an insurance quote. If your 18 that will probably change your mind or your parents mind.
