I'm all in favor of buying parts like that used, though.
3k is a tough limit to set if you include the clutch. For me, it's $925 on performance/tuning and $750 on clutch/flywheel, but my counter stopped a while ago, heh.

They offer several springs with differeing spring rates, but the one that I'm getting is the 19-24psi spring. The stock WGA is 11psi, so our MBCs have to raise boost by 10+ psi in order to get to the desired level. This leads to spikes and taper. I will have mine set at 20psi, so that I basically don't run lower than 20psi, and my Forge UNOS w/soft spring will only have to adjust boost 4-5psi above base on a daily basis. It should spike less, hold boost steady, and not taper much at all.

Anyone running an EBC in combination likely has a very tough time also. The blue spring is about 3psi heavier than stock which is not much. We have shared with Forge, the need for an intermediate spring at 16psi.

If there had to be a range, 15-17 would be it. The blue is 13-14 as tested. The red is 20.5 on my car, however when you spoolup fast and the wga does not start to open until close to 19-20psi, it will overshoot the target until the flapper lets enough boost out.
