Hmm, wonder what the chances are that I'll be using that piece, haha...

I recently PM'd david about the possibility of adding a support bracket to the "ebay" O2 housings as I think the lack of having one is their only negative attribute.

They seem to make good power on virtually any stock turbo or stock-based turbo and they'e cost effective and they seem be reliable, but the lack of a support bracket on the tubular O2 housings is what causes the stainless manifolds to crack when the two parts are used together. The manifold is then supporting the weight of the entire turbo assembly and the front of the exhaust, and consequently cracks under the stress.

If the stainles O2 housing incorporated a support bracket like the OEM housing, it would offer the improved flow while being just as reliable (assuming the stainless used is up to par).

I don't see why the brackets aren't included from the manufacturer, but I think it would be quite simple to create a jig from the OEM housing to weld on a bracket to the tubular units.

Just my opinion!

^^

i'm thinking of buying one and welding a support backet to it. I'm going to get my friend to CNC a bracket for me and i'm going to weld it to the flange. this is the only sheet metal 02 housing that i've seen that incorporate the oem support bracket. sorry for the large pics, they are not mine. too bad i sold my megan 02 housing a month ago before i saw the post. now i have to go buy another one.

Well, for those of us just using the stock ported/coated exhaust manifold, that's not an issue, so that's something to think about. Remember that Dave only found gains over the stock ported/coated manifold with the Full Race Manifold, and even then it was only 4whp or so...

I don't think there has been a stock to Megan manifold comparison however.

Sweet, did you do headstuds as well, if you got it open for cams you might as well throw them in, they are a super easy install if you the cams out.
