No, there are some of us out there that get good grades and can pay for our evo's ourselves. I got a 4.2 gpa this semester and I made enough money to pay for my evo (including insurance for this month). It's called time management.

Thanks, for the sarcastic comment though.

Just to let you know, I work full time and go to college full time, and get good grades too. Funny thing though, is I can pay for my evo every month (including insurance). Thanks for playing!

Then why in the world would you write a sarcastic comment like that? If someone is going through the same thing you are going through right now, why would you put them down?

Well, be careful how you say things because I'm pretty sure most people took that as a sarcastic stab at the kid.

Looked like a joke to me

On Supraforums, people are rarely this nice to kids who have no experience owning high hp cars. I'm surprised at the acceptance that's given here.

as bad as these kiddies are, now answer me this question. why would someone give these babies fast cars like the evo/sti/srt? do they hvae a death wish for their kids. reminds me of a lightning we built for this kid. he blew his motor up! convinced his dad to give him his credit card, and went to town. ended up running a fully built motor with a KB blower. the truck was making more than 600hp at the wheels, and its torque curve was vertical!!!!

best part about it, his father had no idea what the kid was spending the money on either. finally, when the motor swap was done, we couldnt take it any more. we called the father up and told him thta if he loved his son, he would get down here and drop a deposit for brakes/suspension in order to keep the truck on the road. i still do not know how he was able to get to the shop so fast, he crossed san jose in like 10 minutes! you cant run that much power through a stock vehicle without killing yourself. especially if your 16!!!!

funniest thing of all, we all took bets about how long it would take him to get stupid in the truck. well, it was about 30 seconds. he looped it pulling out of the parking lot! we laughed for hours and hours, but it scared him enough to baby it for a while. 6 months later or so (which is significantly longer than i thought i would take him) he ended up putting it through a fence!

he wasnt the only one either, all of his little hommie friends had lightnings, except for one who had an IMMACULATE typhoon blazer (turbocharged, AWD!). this kid had the ***** to complain to me that all his friends had lightnings, and all he had was this crappy typhoon (he actually said "crappy typhoon"!) this truck was beautiful, not a scratch on it, perfect body, perfect paint, interior looked brand new, just amazing. and it wasnt good enough for this little punk.

how stupid can parents be? i had an 84 s10 v6 auto 4x4 when i turned 16, and was darn happy that i had a car. bought it for $500! heck, it taught me how to work on vehicles as well as how to drive. thats what all kids need

Simply compare the statistics and the behaviour of the various age groups, they vary wildly. This applies far more to males than to females but the same rules apply. Young adults are still very hormonal and are in a transition stage as it were, they're not completely kids but they're not quite adults. There's a vast difference is saying something like "all asians are good at math" and saying "a 16 year old is far less mature than a 25 year old". A sign of someone's maturity is whether they understand this. When I was younger I didn't like to admit that I wasn't mature enough to handle certain situations, but now I look back and go "wow my parents were right I was a dumbass back then".
amby is right. psychologists unanomously agree that the human brain doesnt fully cement itself til nearly the age of 25. meaning that you are not fully mature when it comes to brain function til then. no one can honestly look me in the eyes and tell me that an average 16 year old is as functional when it comes to common sense as a 25 year old. heck, i work with highschool students every week. trust me, some may be smart, but they are not capable of mature thought, full logical thought processes, or real common sense. they are still not fully capable of seeing the world through unbias eyes. they have blinders on, only allowing them to see things from their perspective (this varies of course from person to person, but when you compare teh average to the average, you get the idea)

I bought a Supra at the ripe age of 17. It was the dot com boom and I was doing web design and making a **** TON of money. My parents had no say since I bought the car myself. At 18, I wrapped it around a phone pole by going a little too fast in a turn.

I was a very, very careful driver, but not careful enough. And at that age there's always a temptation to show off a little, and sometimes you pay. I was responsible as a young kid could be with a 400+hp RWD sports car. Didn't street race, etc. If I had some HDPE experience, I bet I would've gotten out of that turn just fine.

I would never allow my kids to own a car like that until they had some experience. Experience is NOT a year or two behind the wheel.

who cares if you're young and get stereo typed. Just be better than the people that caused the stereo typical pattern to exist in the first place.

as for being called a ricer, I bet a ton of people think that when they see my evo... when i traded in my BMW some of my ignorant "friends" actually said something like "but your BMW is so much more pimp" ... who gives a crap.

we all have evos or lancers here or the most part. some of us are young and get stereo typed because of that, it's unfair, but justified by all the retarded people that age. some of those retards I'm sure own evos.

I've been stereo typed a ton of times, but most of the time I believe that the stereo types were justified they just didn't apply to me and nothing bad ever came out of it.

It has nothing to do with a "stereotype", you cannot create experience out of thin air. Kids aren't buying these cars to drive like grannies. They're going to drive these cars hard, they way they're meant to be. Experience tells you when it's safe to do so and it also save your a$$ when you push the car too hard.

I'm sorry, but the "I'm-16-and-worthy-of-this-powerful-car-unlike-everyone-else" thing has been beaten to death over and over. I WAS ONE OF THEM.

Stereotyping is wrong ethically , but statistically... oh so right.

2. I said +1, because he was right, you are ignorant, but I don't agree with calling you an *** part. So, if you think that is what I meant, I apologize, that is not my style.
Actually my statement was sarcastic and somehow I think I would know considering I said it. It has no implications regarding my maturity because as I stated it was intended to be taken as a sarcastic comment. Ignorance does not apply here because the term ignorance implies a lack of knowledge which in this case would mean a lack of knowledge about 16 year old kids. Now then, since I am 20 I must have at one point been a 16 year old thus I have personal experience in regards to what it is to be 16. Seeing as how I am a jackass, I will point out the irony of someone implying I am ignorant even though they appear to be ignorant about the term "ignorance". I was also talking from a medical/biological standpoint, so this ignorant claim is further reduced by the fact that I am actually a biologist and my parents are doctors, thus I do indeed have an education in what I am talking about. Any neurologist will tell you that a 16 year old is mentally far different from a 25 year old.
Oh and diablo, my "cocky" statement was in reference to the vast number of 16 year olds (hell teenagers in general) who are willing to sit there and tell me straight to the face things like "I deserved the car" or "I'm mature enough to get a 30000$ 300 hp car" which is ridiculous. As I stated earlier, I remember what it is like to be a 16 year old and I remember how cocky I was. I thought I knew what was best for me and I thought I was mature enough to make decisions regarding my education and my life in general. Now that I am older I know I knew nothing, I was just a dumb (not in the IQ sense) kid. When you get older you will probably do the same, you'll back and go "wow I can't believe I did that". There is a reason why insurance is so high for our age bracket and the reason is the very things I outlined earlier, a young brain is a dangerous brain.
As for the statement made by Ninj0x, I am not criticizing anything, I am pointing out simple facts. If you don't want to accept them, fine, but that is not my problem/fault. In regards to my signature, its a signature which states that I am the master of the sarcasm, and its obviously intended as a joke. If you cannot see that, you have far worse problems.
For those that want some reading on some of the ideas I outlined, here.

Now is that a sufficient level of p0wning? Note: this is a joke and is actually intended to both annoy and irritate.
