1.5-2mph extra by removing the wing?
Hi,
I just found this topic on the WRX/STI forums. This guy claims 1.5-2mph oextra trap speed due to less drag and no downforce. By the way, I am sonicowrx03 on that forum

Does anyone tried this on the Evos?, any gains? I also wondered doing that on my car.
Thanks!!
Carlos

true the wing causes drag at the strip and downforce on the track. I run without my wing and I personally thing the EVO carves much better without it. As for tracks with speeds of 120+ I'd recommend putting it back on cuz' that rear does get quite squirrely at that speed.

The stock Evo wing is designed to increase downforce at speeds over 80mph.
For roadracers, this is important under braking and at high speed corners but may not be necessary for the drag enthusiasts.
I experienced this first hand at Laguna Seca, my 2005 RS was unstable and tail happy approaching turn 2 before I installed the stock wing.

This is very interesting stuff about the removal of the wing. But who has actually drag raced their Evo before and after the wing removal and what was your before and after E.T's and MPH's?
