Don't mean to jack your thread but a question just occured to me. How many other manufacturers offer CF in their products stock? I'm talkin production models.

wing for twisties (on topic) bad for highways. cops = eagles for wings...

haha i never asked if i should go without the wing. All i wanted to know was whether or not i should go with the stock wing (which i have decided i am going to do) or an aftermarket wing. I know the rs is unpopular with the main stream crowd, but to me it is the perfect car. I love a pure car, no radio, no sound insulation, all the better in my mind. i do not plan on selling this car any time soon and plan on tracking it as much as possible. Hopefully even making the trek to new foundland in the next year or two for the targa new foundland rally

Hell Yeah, Targa New Foundland Rally. Have fun with your RS. Get a stock wing. If you do not like it, you can always sell it. I was thinking of an RS. I am leaning toward the MR now and pay off quick, then buy a RS to track.

We should get a whole group together to do this rally! That would be awesome!
I am actually in the process of attempting to get some sort of a time attack stage set up in my hometown. Very doubtful that it will actually come to fruition but my father holds alot of power in the community and he is behind the idea 100%.... Fingers Crossed

Is there statistical analysis to show any negative lift from the wing under threshold braking?

alpineracer, I would be very interested in a group to do a rally. I would need a couple of years to get my finances together and the car where I would want it, but that would be pretty cool. I have been looking at this for quite a while. Ever since I saw on Speed Channel. What would you want to do? Grand Touring Competition?

even if you like twisties, you should keep the wing for the downforce on the rear.

This helps when you're jumping over a hill as well as keeping your tail little more solid.

The wing and the front spliter, rear diffuser and vortex generators.

they don't weight that much, they look good, adds character to the car and it actually does help.

as i asked someone about the wing. "does the wing really do anything for the car in anyway?" one said if it really did anything over 90mph as you keep asking me and saying you see online they would hae but it on the rs model. another quote from someone. "they have but the car in a wind tunlle and show really no big down force with the wing or with out. so there for it is in your minds that it is making a diff. and when i look at it yes looks cool but then someone times not. and yes it deff makes the cops look at you more then you want. so with off wont have such a big problem with cops.

okay, we all know that MAYBE 30%-40% of evo owners accually race their cars, and of those only a few accualy take the car to the limits on the track....so weather or not the wing will add 2mph or make a difference over 100 mph still doesn't change the fact that you won't notice unless you are a well experianced driver pushing the car to its limits. Im sorry but its the truth so we can all sum this up by saying get the wing if you like the looks.

really, wind tunnel is for straight line. So if you drag race, i guess you wont need the wing.

No need for downforce or wont generate that much.

But if you're in the mountain, going up and down, sideways, the wing does come in to play a bit.

I wouldn't say much, but that "little" could save you from falling 50ft down the mtn road.

anyway, Evo looks like Honda Accord without the wing.

yes ture but AMS and BR cars both do not have wings and they road race there car so i dont think it does much. unless you go with a crazy aftermarket one that is angle right and all.

yes but the amount of downforce the stock wing makes will not make you from falling off. it is more or less for looks. nothing else but looks and wight.

hey someone who took off stock wing how much does it weight anyhow.

This is little far off, but on rally cars as well as f-1 cars, those wings play a big roll.

The subie wrc driver crashed nose first on a big hill, because he broke his wing, instead of landing on tires.

I've seen numerous times where the wing plays a big factor in handling... but who knows... not really a proof for it.

U do have to think that Manufacturer isn't going to put something that expensive on a $30,000 car if they thought it wasn't gonna help at all.

Those cars are not set up primarly for road courses, but more for straight line racing. I would agree that the AMS car could rip up road courses but in areas where the car can't "finish" as well in handling horse power is there to make up.
