wing worth it?

Ok, i am placing an order for my white IX rs this week and i am prety sure that i am also going to order the wing, wicker bill, and vortex generator as well. My question is should i really get the stock parts or should i go ahead and drop the money on an aftermarket wing? I do really like the idea of having an rs with the whole mr zero lift kit or whatever you would call this, and i think it looks better stock than aftermarket. The main thing though is i want function. How much of a difference does an aftermarket setup make compared to stock? And how fast do you actualy have to be going to really realize the true benefits? Thanks for your help!

OK, maybe i should make myself a bit more clear. I really do not care whatsoever about 1/4 mile. I am all about the twisty bits fast times on the strip are cool, but i much prefer the turns!
Thanks for your quick replies though

having now gone wingless i can tell you that at highway speeds you will notice a difference in rear downforce (and drag for that matter). your gas mileage will also go up slightly. i went wingless (not by choice) but i like it enough. i don't really want all the attention the stock wing brought me. now my car looks like any other japanese compact... only i know its hella faster.

if you're going to have a wing at all keep the stock one.. I despise aftermarket wings.

I will most likely be removing my wing in the near future.

If you are going to order the wing and all from the dealer wont it be a bit more to just buy the GSR? How much is the difference? Perhaps you should get the GSR model instead?

uh... no. I do not want the gsr. I want the aluminum roof, and i am planning on stripping it all out anyways. And it is cheaper to get the stock wing than an aftermarket one. I am definitely set on the rs.

Cornering above 100mph you will appreicate the additional stability from the wing. I would suggest stock unless you are 100% confident that the aftermarket wing has been through the same amount of R&D as the wing...

If it's for track use "only", go with the RS. If you ever plan to do daily driving and want to re-sell it go with the standard version. Much harder to sell an RS than a standard version.

If you're talking about roads with bends in them, keep the wing. It is proven to be worth a fair chunk of time over a lap. Removing it will free up some drag but not an awful lot.

I doubt the 2mph figure. It will be caus SOME drag but unless you'rr doing crazy speeds at the 1/4 there really shouldn't be any noticable difference. I've never done any drag racing, so I am purely guessing. Years ago we timed laps in Integras with and without the wing and with it's almost 0.7sec faster as I remember and speed trap is pretty much the same if not slightly faster with the wing.

That's a huge wing and I wouldn't doubt 2 mph hour slower. Looks better and it's faster without it.
