Removing boost taper

I was told by someone that the ECU tapers the boost after a certain amount of time at full boost. I was told to buy a MBC and I will no longer have this problem. I was also told that if I had my ECU flashed I wouldn't need a MBC and my boost would stay at almost 20psi in all gears at full boost. They said the stock ECU tapers the stock boost controller and the addition of an MBC would stop this from happening.

My question is: Is there a way to remove this stock boost controller they are talking about and just run close to 20psi as if I had an ECU reflash?

Thanks in advance

Yes, Several vendors do a "boost controlling" flash.

I know about them, but I am trying to see if I can do it without getting a flash right now. I want to wait for my cams and then get flashed. I am just trying to run more boost now without getting a MBC.

The only thing I can think of for cheap that would hold you over is building your own bleeder valve.....do a search on home made boost controllers, should cost you about 5 - 10 bucks at home depot and will hold boost better.

the easiest & FREE way to reduce taper is to take your wastegate turnbuckle & turn it all the way down as far as it will go. you will be amazed... takes about 10min to do.

Is there a reason why the boost tapers? To put less stress on the engine at high rpms perhaps?

Please, just get an MBC. You have more expensive, more complicated, and less useful mods, so why are you hesitant to get an MBC? With cams, you will need a tune like you already plan on doing, but it would be a waste to rely on a boost-controlling flash. Just get an $85 Forge UNOS MBC, install it, and happily boost to 21-22psi on a daily basis on 93oct. You will always taper with the stock turbo, but an MBC will limit the taper.
