Insurance Question for my Modified EVO VIII

Hello again to all...

I purchased a 2003 Evo VIII about 5-6 months ago. I paid for it in full the day the day I went to pick it up, so I would have no car payments. When it was time to select insurance coverage I just picked the basic liability...my thoughts were no payments ...no need for full coverage.
Ive been bit by the modifying bug...and been putting alot of money in this car lately...so to protect my investment i called the insurance company and request a change in policy, to full coverage. They required a visual inspection of the car and sent me a form to list all mods.
One of the questions are:

Is the engine, suspension, exhaust or intake manifold modified?

the answer is yes to all the above...

Has anyone ever had problems with insurance companies, when listing mods? Or is this just a normal question for vehicles that have to fill out modification forms??

thanks

Most insurance companies will insure mods if you pay them a extra fee, it is a service they offer. I didn't have this on my modified honda, and they said they wouldn't cover my parts but they did give me extra time to take all my stuff off and return it to as close to stock when it totaled.

I believe they want to see the vehicle.....not to see the mods. Well maybe so but mainly to see if you have any damage to the car already. Many people would try and get full coverage with previous damage and fraud the insurance company. To the insurance company, it probably just pulled a flag when all of a sudden you want to raise your insurance.

Don't think you have anything to worry about.... The mods, well, just about any insurance company I have dealt with wants proof like receipts and visually possibly.

When i had Geico they asked me the same thing. I was worried that they wouldnt insure the car but i told them anyway. They asked if i wanted additional coverage for those items since it wasnt covered under their normal policy. If you insurance company offers the same i would go for it. never have liablility only on a car.

go to esurance.com and do a free quote they have aftermarket coverages ranging from a couple hundred dollars worth of mods to over 10,000 grand or more I think. Its a little extra but they seem pretty fair. WHen I was waiting to get insurance for mine I checked them. I should have gone with them because I would be spending 240 dollars less per six months. My isurance only went up 15 bucks a month from what I was paying on my civic so I just kept my policy. I still might switch later though to save that extra money.

you can purchase additional coverage for mods from some insurers as long as ther's proff it was on the car/receipts. some even give you $1000 worth included with full coverage.

it varies from company to company but most will give you the chance to cover up to a certain amount of mods for an extra fee.

bad bad idea to only have liability...especially on an evo.
